new custom box i built for my wifes car..video now added..

Post by 88bonnsse »

i built this for my wife's orion hcca 4000 watt sub.

the box is 3.7 cubic feet slot ported built above manufactures specs.. why because i knew i would get more sound from a bigger box..

here is the deal the sub can handle 3000 watts rms power daily with no problems.. my zapco amp is only pushing out probally about 1400 watts rms.. so in order to sound better you need a bigger box to make up for the sub being under powered..

i made this box to fit perfectly in the trunk right under the rear deck where the 6x9's are and to not take up hardly no room.. it fits perfect.. and the sound is amazing..

only thing left to do is to cover it up.. im unsure is im doing carpet or leather or what color as well..

so for now i just hooked it up in my house to bench test it and holy cow its fooking loud.. my kitchen cabinets opened up and 1 of my plates fell out and broke...

this box and sub is just straight sick.. i made a video but every time i try to upload it on photobucket it will freeze and get stuck at 60%. but i will find out a way to upload it.. you can see the subs 4'' of excursion in the video.. the amount of air it moves is just insane for a 10'' sub..

believer it or not she listens to only old school metal some new metal and oldies.. like from the 50's..

you have to hear a metallica bass solo with this system and you would absolutely love it..

Im all about SQ. Mobile audio is pretty tough when it comes to accuracy, but my IDQ10's sound pretty decent. Im def not the SPL type.

Wow that woofer is a beast. I have been "out" of car audio for far to long. I remember when Orion first came out with there 1000 watt Extreme subs. The rep plugging one into the wall socket to show their durability...
They say I have A.D.D but I just don't understa......Oh Look! A Kitty!!

My only thought is to put a grille over that sub...of course it would really have to stick outwards...I've never seen a sub move so much in my life. You could lose a hand if you put it infront of that thing. LOL.

What port area and tuning you have on it?

From what I've seen those HCCAs are beasts. I wonder why they're only rated for 1500w RMS. Seems pretty low for a sub with a 4" voice coil.

yeah they are rated at 1500 watts rms but it can handle 3000 watts rms daily if i wanted it to.. i had it hooked up to my kicker zx2500.1 which is close to 3000 watts rms and the lil 10'' orion sub took it and slammed it right back in my face, with avengance...lol.. its a serious lil sub.. i would say its harder them alot of mid level 15'' subs..

if i threw 3000 watts rms to one of my 15'' kicker l7 subs it would blow like a over filled water balloon..
