sunroof air deflector broke...

Post by Ryno02 »

wasnt expecting this last night. i was closing my sunroof and it stopped half way. i opened it back up, and the black "air dam" that pops up when you open the sunroof is broken by the passenger side hinge point. are these replaceable, and where can i get a replacement if it is?

Mine was broken when I bought my car. Been like that for years. I honestly think its quieter with the deflector held down anyways (in other cars).

AFAIK, the only way to fix the problem is to drop the headliner and completely remove the sunroof track. maybe even have to replace the entire thing.

I take mine off regularly to clean the bugs and stuff off. Gentle handling is all that's required. Should be able to find one easily enough. If nobody on the forum has one you could definitely get one at the dealer (although it would likely be expensive).

I had the same problem on my 2000 SSEi and went to gmpartsdirect.com and ordered one that was easy to install. They delivered the part promptly and I was very satisfied. Good luck.

yeah, i wouldn't mind just removing it if i can and the sunroof operates normally. it will just be a bit windier, but i like that.

woot! that was easy. it just clipped off after i unhooked it from the front part of the roof. there is a definite low freq. hum from the wind on the open sunroof now at mid speed. i might try to get a replacement, its annoying.

if you want a breeze, adjust the right rear window. Do the left rear if you don't, if you have a passenger they will get the breeze. Leave the fronts up and don't do both rears at the same time. OK, try it once to experience it, then don't do it again :)
