Yes Trans assembly Goo does a great job of holding the thrust washers in place..

Re: 4T60E interchangeability
I would have thought the FSM would have suggested it or even where to use loctite.
The transmission is in. I was assembling the subframe onto the chassis when it got dark. It's up there and in now. Just needs to be torqued (83 Ft-Lbs!!!)
I am feeling pretty good about every thing. The transmission internals make me think though.
My steering gear and ball joints have taken it hard over the last week. My stabalizer bracket broke loose from the rear main subframe member during disassembly and I would guess that that part would be a long wait to get. I may just use a very large hose clamp to encircle the stabalizer around the frame member. It does have very large bolts attaching it to the frame member in addition.

Are you sure on that torque for the subframe? I know my 2k was 140 ft lbs.

I don't know. Car's in Salem and I am further up North. All three of my manuals are with her. I'll check tomorrow. Anyway, I can get a cheater/Breaker Bar and Torque them to spec.

Well my understanding is 3.06. It's a 3.06 diff and I replaced the drive and driven in the new transmission so it is a 35/35. I finished at dusk and it wouldn't turn over. I reattached the starter wire and drove it to get some gas and then back. Babied it you know but it does seem quicker. I'll have to get to the strip soon to see what has changed. I noticed no problems except a slight delay into third. But it was low on fluid then.

Re: 4T60E interchangeability
How far into the trans did you look? Or did you just replace the sprockets?
If you wanna take a look at whats inside your trans (well the older version of your trans) hop into my thread

That's a good project you have. Reinventing the wheel (in Titanium!!)
I ended up with a few problems after my swap. 1)What at first was a quart a day trans fluid leak and is now a drop every couple minutes. 2)Erratic steering. 3)And some worrisome shifting problems.
I failed to buy a side case gasket, mainly because I was not sure until the last minute if I would be switching the drive and driven gears. It leaks at the bottom of the side case and I tightened up the bolts way (too) tight and that has slowed it down a lot. I'll try a qt of Lucas stop slip but I'm not hopeful.
The erratic steering is likely the stabalizer bar if I have the part name right. (the long bar that connects the two control arms) Anyway I failed to go back and tighten it up at each side as I was way over due to be done and gone. For this I am hopeful
The worst of the three is what I hoped would not be the deal. The transmission I swapped in is a used 1994 transmission. To expect it to operate flawlessly was and is too much. First when accelerating to third it kinda hangs up and then drops in. And while freeway cruising it easily and frequently drops in and out of what I guess is OD. And most problematic to me is it's resistance to down shift after going WOT while cruising. I bought a shift kit which described itself as a cure for all these problems. The instructions were in complete and perfect Jibberish English. From what I could tell I didn't think I could do it and I returned it. Then once I split the case 2000 parts didn't fall on the floor and in retrospect I sure wish I had of installed it.

If you're talking about the Trans-go kit, it's really not that hard to understand.. at all.spoiledred94 wrote: I bought a shift kit which described itself as a cure for all these problems. The instructions were in complete and perfect Jibberish English.

Re: 4T60E interchangeability
Uh huh. It looked like a real good kit. I wished I had been more familiar with transmission internals, I'd have kept and installed it. The instructions were sparse and seemed geared toward shops and pro mechanics.
