Tire recomendation reviews.....

Post by 01bonneSC »

Maybe make this a sticky? Everyone is looking for new tires, so maybe make this a "TireRack" for Bonneville Owners by Bonneville owners. If you really like or dislike your tires, post up Brand, Make, size, driving style, etc and a short review. Dont ask questions about the tires posted, PM the member that posted for that, just keep this strictly review style.

I LOVE THESE TIRES!!!! Grip all the time; snow, rain, dry. No problems what so ever. I payed about $125/tire and they MSRP for about $170/tire. Much Much better than the Michilins I had on when I got the car. Def a stiffer tire for a bit of a rougher ride but they really made my 2001 SSEi handle like a slot car. Made it through the winter with NO PROBLEMS. I have about 20,000mi on the tires now. Im a pretty agressive driver on the country corners and they stick fantastically. I'll get more detailed when I have time, im tired....

Continental ContiExtremeContacts...

Rating: Excellent
Price: 82/tire from tirerack.com
These tires are wonderful. After about 10k miles of 70% highway, 30% city, I cannot see any treadwear just yet... They handle AMAZINGLY. It's amazing how much these tires changed the feel of my car. They're also great in the rain. The snow? Not so much... Also, the ride definitely has gotten a lot more harsh, but I was expecting it...

Moved to General Chat.

Toyo Proxes TPT (had two sets on the Zilla previously). Great traction, directional tread.
Kumho Ecsta on the SLE? Even better, but it's hard to tell with the differences between he cars. Great winter performance, and don't give up any summer traction.

Toyo T1R's on the Zilla? Fooking awesome, but are summer traction/performance only. No treadwear gaurantee, but I don't care with traction like this. Fooking spooky with road temperatures under about 40 degrees F. AMAZING traction wet or dry at temps above that.

(see www.tirerack.com for more in-depth reviews)

Everyone's suspension, power, and driving styles differ. This should be taken into account. As well as tire SIZES. Neither of my cars currently run stock tire widths. That's a big factor in my reviews.

Goodyear Assurance Comfort Tread
226/60R16 T rated

Awesome tire, great on the highway and in the snow, when i fist got them i took a drive to Georgia (2400+ miles round trip) for thanksgiving and they were the quietest and most comfortable tire I've ever rode on. I've had them on about 10,000 miles and they still look brand new. I took my snow tires of early this year and got caught in a few snow storms with the comfort treads on and they out performed my Cooper weathermaster studded snows. With an 80,000 mile tread life warranty you can't beat them.

BFGoodrich G-force Sport
Ultra high performance summer/ directional tread
245/50ZR16 W rated
"very spirited" driving style

Excellent wet and dry traction. Great high speed stability, tracking, and steering response. Good ride quality for a low profile tire, but there is a bit of road noise due to the aggressive tread pattern. Like all summer tires these do not work in cold weather. Expect to get ~20k out of a set if the tires are used as intended.

i work at sears in the auto center... i sell tires... i could list hmmm 500 diff tires that would be a nice choice. however its depends alot on the money you want to spend and your driving habits.. are you looking for a cheap tire, midrange or premium tire? are you a red light racer? are you in an area where it rains and or snows alot..

my self i would recommend the GoodYear triple tread or the GY assurance comfort tread. depends on if you run your car hard or if you want a great touring tire.

but there are many many many other brands to play with..

but just remember one thing, you get what you pay for!! and so many ppl dont understand that... they buy a 50/60 some odd dollar tire and then they come back and complain about the ride...

online dealers are good priced.. however then you have to pay to have them mounted and balanced.. most the time when you buy tires from a shop they will do that for free or a little fee..

Pirelli P-Zero Nero tires. So far, about 3000 miles, Very quiet on the road, GREAT rain traction, and as of yet are untested in snow.
