rear?(car) kicks(bounces) left/right when i drive over bumps

-I just replaced both my *Rear-Adjust link bars*

-when driving my car over any large crack in the road, it feels like it kicks the rear left, (bounces left..right a bit),...when on the highway its worse.

----Will new rear shocks stop the car from pulling so hard left(right) when i hit a bump?----

-the *link bars* tie rod ends were shot!...i was hoping by replacing the *Adjust Links* in the rear.. it was going to fix this pull(left more than right) on my car when i hit bumps.....yet, no luck

-i know i need new rear, air-shocks because i had a flat on the rear-driver side tire one day and when placing a spare on......noticed whatever hit my tire hit my shock and leaked all the fluid out of it, leaving a puddle on the ground.

cuz its a little more bounce and pull when holding the wheel to right when i hit a bumb........ when i hit a bump on a left curve VS hitting a bump on a right curve...or holding the wheel to the left VS right when i hit a bump/crack

or could this not even be a related to the shocks in the rear and be a problem on the front end of the car even????
I didnt think shocks would cause this bounce and pull so hard in the back....was thinking it was that *adjust link* bar about to lose my tire.

I've known 2 different instances of cars doing the side to side shake. They were not Bonnevilles, but rear shocks were replaced and fixed the problem...

It sounds like they need to be replaced anyways, so you won't be out anything if that's incorrect...

Yes, weak shocks will cause that problem. Was an alignment done after the links were replaced?

I just had the SAME exact problem. One rear shock was blown and I could see a greasy lookin stain on the outside boot of the shock. I replaced them both and the car handles much better.

yup ...car was aligned after adjust links were put on.....and i figured since its still doing some crazy *shoot* in the rear, it was probably the shocks, or one really bad one.............thanks for the replies guys

Im having the exact same problem right now to on my 00ssei. I think they are the shocks but not sure.how can you know if your rear shocks need to be replaced?

You need new struts and mounts. Very easy replacement.

The wiggle going over bumps for me was a blown rear shock.


Basically if you look at the rear shocks and you can see a greasy looking stain on the rubber boot that covers the piston, then you need new ones.

If you have anywhere near 100,000 miles on your shocks its a pretty safe bet they are fairly worn or even shot.
