I guess I should have known I'd have a heater problem now that its going to be 30 degress tonight. Here's the issue: Heater doesn't blow hot air all the time (i have it on 90), car is hot (about 185-190 according to the temp guage), coolant level full, water pump is working, thermostat is good, heater core isn't leaking, one heater hose is hot, the other heater hose is warm, yet no hot air. Temp on the ECC blinks sometimes. If I turn the heat on and off, and/or temp down and back up to 90 again, the heat will get hot again. Any ideas? Actuator? Thanks for tips!

It could be indicating a problem with an actuator. But I am leaning more towards something with the controller. When you say it doesn't blow warm all of the time. Does it cool down to outside temperature, luke warm, or does it start blowing out arctic cold air. ?

Sounds like the airmix actuator.

A royal PITA on the Bonneville. Buick and Olds guys have it so freakin' easy.

Luke warm. Definitely not as hot as it should be. Yeah, from what I've read, the actuator is a pain on the Bonneville. Which is why that'd be the last thing I'd want to try to fix.

does anyone have any step-by-step instructions for changing out a air mix actuator on a 98 Bonneville? I'm guessing the most difficult part would be removing my dash?

You don't have to remove the dash. I think that gearhead Stan did a writeup on this. Try a search for "trialnuts"

Are we assuming this SLE has ECC, or has that been asked and I missed it?
