Rear Door Locks and Windows Not Responding

Post by Mystical-Myst »

Hey I am wondering if there are any tips or solutions on why my back doors and windows wont respond. It all started in the morning when I was driving to work and the information center went haywire telling me the left rear and right rear doors were open. I didnt stop to take a look and I just hit the reset button. After about 30 seconds both the back windows opened up a bit for no apparent reason. I was able to close them from the driver side and just figured I would look after it afterwork. Driving home from work I noticed that both the back doors arent locking and the windows arent responding to any controls. The information center keeps telling me that the left rear door even though everything is closed. Any suggestions would be appreciated, or maybe my car is just haunted lol :???:

Without knowing anything specific about your car, I would immediately suspect a grounding issue of some sort. Has there been a lot of moisture in the car recently? Maybe a heavy rain or something that would result in a bit too much water inside the car?

Do the windows work when you use the switch on the back doors? If power and ground is good, it could be a bad driver's door module.

With new info from here:

I have to agree with Archon and suspect the driver's door module.

Alright well I will go to a scrap yard and see if I can find a new drivers door module and see if thats the issue or not, hopefully it is. I will keep everyone updated and see what happens lol

Ive had this problem before.

I take it you have a sunroof, well your drain tube is plugged and it is leaking water into your cabin. check under your backseat carpit. well to fix your windows and locks is easy. take out your drives seat pull back your carpet. follow the loom and look for a tan and white wire. it will be broken, just splice it back together

Yeah, I had this exact same problem awhile back. In my case it wasn't the module, but corrosion on the tan and white wires. There is a factory splice just behind the driver's seat underneath the carpet (it is wrapped in a large bundle of wires). Repaired the splice, and the problem went away.

Water soaking into the carpet and pooling on the floor was the cause of the issue. Hope this information helps out!!
