Anyone use a JMB performance intake?
http://jmbperformance.com/store/product ... 69}6{50}33
I saw this on the old forum, and didn't know if anyone still uses one?
Is this one inferior to the intense FWI?
Although a little more expensive, I really like the look.
Thanks!

Re: Anyone use a JMB performance intake?
Only a few people run them from the old site: Shadowfax217 & SlickBonny. Do a search over there. They was talk that he was getting KR after installing it, but I don't thing anything was ever concluded because neither of them have a scanner to read IAT temps and KR.

Re: Anyone use a JMB performance intake?
For the price of that I'd rather buy the Intense FWI intake

Re: Anyone use a JMB performance intake?
Hmm, I have one on my Regal, no problems. The sound is quite different from an Intense FWI, but so is the price. I feel that it is a better FWI than the Intense one.

Re: Anyone use a JMB performance intake?
The first JMB in an H body did produce confirmed KR. It was scanned before, during, and after. I don't think it was ever determined where the KR was coming from.

Sure is a pretty piece of kit.
Hmm, I have a 3" intake sitting around from an old car that maybe could be adapted to be similar to this.

...An air intake CREATED KR? That sounds like it was a coincidence to me.

Re: Anyone use a JMB performance intake?
It would take quite a bit of noise to cause KR from an intake that is connected via rubber couplers etc. Once you look over Regals you can understand why JMB is popular. There's no perfect direct route.

sorry to wake an old post, but what is KR you all speak of, Knock?? How would an intake cause a problem?

That is complete BS or coincidental IMO.

Re: Anyone use a JMB performance intake?
KR is knock retard. It is the PCM pulling timing, due to detonation.Tricked-T wrote:sorry to wake an old post, but what is KR you all speak of, Knock?? How would an intake cause a problem?

Knock (or pre-ignition), not detonation. Big difference.
Or any sound the knock sensors determine MIGHT be knock.

So are you thinking the metal intake tube hitting the opening to the fender well the cause for potential false knock?

Or even something as benign as resonance in the intake. It had some odd turns and transitions.

Re: Anyone use a JMB performance intake?
if that is the case could that be fixed with some sort of insulation like dynamat or something to prevent the resonance?willwren wrote:Or even something as benign as resonance in the intake. It had some odd turns and transitions.

Re: Anyone use a JMB performance intake?
Not unless you put it on the INSIDE. Resonance is sound. And it's created IN the intake. This is why most stock airboxes are either designed to cancel resonance or have resonators (to cancel resonance) installed in the intake tract.

Re: Anyone use a JMB performance intake?
Only one or two Bonnevilles on this club ever tried it. Neither are active posters. The JMB is mildly popular in the W body world, but it just never took off in our world.
