Driving down the road, cars all around me and suddenly....BANG!, I thought I blew a tire, but no warning messages... I was a very loud bang. Scared the bajeezeeeses out of me.
It appears the car next to me kicked something at me....
It hit the bottom of the rear drivers side door. It is dented, not just scratched.
Then it hit again on the rocker panel and cracked off the end of the rocker.... crazy....

I wonder what insurance will do for me..Is this comprehensive, or collision? Oh well. I am bummed, but hoping insurance will take care of it..

American Family Insurance. I have been with them for 20 years, My wifes family had them before then...
They took care of me when my Bonneville got hit...I am sure they will.
I want it to look like this again...

As somebody that works for an insurance company in the claims department, I agree with this statement. Usually the beltline of the car is the determining factor.

Also, with collision claims, fault usually has to be assigned, and as the operator of the vehicle it is your duty to keep proper lookout, at least that is how the companies usually see it.

Shame you didn't get the license plate of the car that kicked it up, you might have a chance to put it on their PDL coverage.

Unless they can assign fault to an unknown third party...

All if this depends on whether or not Wisconsin is a no-fault state.

Michigan is. Everything you stated is pretty much out the window in Michigan...

I believe that Michigan is the only state that has no fault on vehicle damages.

If you are worried about it, get a claim opened up. You don't have to follow through with it if you don't want to.

 excellent. I talked to my agent and she said by the way I described it, I didnt run over it, so it's not collision. They will cover it under comprehensive.
That means only $100 deductible!!
If it was said to be covered by collision insurance, it would have been $500 deductible...AND they would have had to make someone at fault. BUT now that it is comp. there is no fault and insurance won't go up. :beerchug:
I took it to an authorized body shop that I had used before. They are going to arrange to have a loaner vehicle waiting for me when I take my car in. Insurance will pay for $20.00 per day car.. which is a Hundai Accent with no power.... Oh well I cant complain...
So, they will paint the bottom half of the rear left door, replace the rocker panel on the left side, and he said they will need to replace the rear left tire because it is cut up a bit by whatever hit it.. I bet this ends up around $1000.

:bwoohoo: I was expecting insurance to give me a hard time..... im happy

Sweet! Can't argue with that.

I admit, I am skeptical though. If somebody in claims disagrees, it can flip on you.

I wait for final delivery. As long as the Accent has A/C, I would be happy!

I guess I didn't explain what happened well enough. After I talked to the agent, I got the call from the adjuster who said it was comp. I think it is too late in the process to change minds now...(at least I hope so) I take it in on Wednesday.

Adjuster FTW!

Please enjoy the remainder of your comprehensive claim!

Still don't have it back.
It should have been ready Tuesday, but they called and said they need an extra day because they accidently scratched the tint on the window and need to have it re-tinted. They took the window out and took it somewhere.... That was nice of them. They are also replacing the rear tire because of the scuff marks on it. I also had them take out a few door dings for $125 extra. Total cost just over $1400..But I pay $225 total.

I have a rental anyway (insurance covered), so I don't really mind. For $20 per day they gave me a 2012 Ford Fiesta SES. Cute little car, with some nice features but it is too thin and fragile feeling. I hear too much road noise, the mirrors rattle, but if you like small cars, I would recommend it.

It's funny that when i stop at intersections, I can hear the fuel slosh around in the gas tank... The car could use a bit more insulation
