Re: Stereo replacement (2000 SSEi)

Hi Folks...

Although the little FM thing worked fine, I didn't like the fact that I couldn't place calls with it without picking up the phone. I broke down and had a Kenwood DDX 372BT installed. Total price was just under $700. They used the GMOS-09 and ASWC harnesses that you folks suggeted ...

Re: Stereo replacement (2000 SSEi)

Thanks for the reply samples08 ! :)

I'm an impatient sort.. And since I didn't get any quick replies, I bought a Bluetooth/FM transmitter to try out... Not sure how well it'll work, but should certainly be a lot easier than changing out the head (which is working fine other than the 1 burnt out ...

Stereo replacement (2000 SSEi)

Hi folks,

I've looked through this thread, and I'm still a little lost...
I've seriously considered buying a new car, but after test driving a few of them, I just couldn't find anything I like better than my Bonny!

It needs a little work, but it has less than 95k miles, so I'm just going ...

Door ajar... Common Problem?

A few days ago my car started showing these problems (2000 SSEi).
Usually it's the rear doors, but occasionally it's the right front, and all the doors are securely closed.
It's pretty annoying with the chimes, and once in awhile the interior lights even come on... :bluetwitch:

I just wondered if ...

Re: Just a Quick Laugh, Nothing More

Love it!!!... :beerchug:

Maybe I'm just a fanboy, but when I got tires a couple months ago the guy at the desk said "Dave, Your Grand Prix is ready"...
I actually felt pretty offended, and made sure to clarify!

How dare he call my SSEi a Grand Prix... [-X

I also noticed it looks like one of those IAT gimmicks on the cruise module under the hood.

Yep, It is...
It was a moment of weakness (too many beers).

I posted a thread about it here:

Wow! They all look nice, but that Bronze one is particularly sharp...

It blows me away with what you did with that $700 SLE in 2 days!

You need your on show on TLC Bro!

Thanks Folks!
Glad I'm not the only one who thinks it's a nice car... :beerchug:

The interior trim is carbon fiber, I assumed it was stock.
Thanks for the offer on the trac button sethjamesrimrodt , it's there, it just fell down inside the console...

Re: Some pics of my 2000 SSEi

I never even noticed it until I took that low level pic, but your right...

It's never been hit since I've owned it ('06), but it does look llike it got bumped at one time or another.
Other than needing shocks and struts the suspension is very solid, so hopefully it wasn't bad... :???:

I've had ...

Some pics of my 2000 SSEi

I was going to clean her up a little better before the pics...
Didn't even get to wax, interior or engine compartment, just too darn hot outside (102f/85% humidity  ).

So... I just took the pics anyway!
~80k original miles.

Sorry for the thread necro, but my car has the same problems... :sadeyz:
Just wanted to say Beautiful work man!
I considered fixing this myself, but after seeing whats involved I doubt I have the skills, and I know I don't have the workspace to for it...

Re: AutoChipsDirect

I'm guessing your fuel economy went down cause you were testing the performance "gains".
Thats quite possible. I'm sure I put my foot in it a little more than usual. :)

After reading the link harofreak00 gave me though I won't be too surprised if mileage drops a little.
It's probably just an ...

Re: AutoChipsDirect

I hooked it up last weekend, and in general, I have to say you folks were right...

I haven't dyno tested or anything, so there's no hard proof, but to be fair,
it does squeel the tires more easily and seems a little quicker (placebo?).
Certainly NOT the 75hp promised on the website though ...

Re: AutoChipsDirect

You could have accomplished the same thing with a 5¢ resistor at Radio Shack.

Open up the box for a good laugh.

I tried to open it up (notice lable top tight), but it's sealed tight w/ no screws...
I was curious myself as to what was inside. :???:

The clips don't actually cut the wires, so I ...

I'll admit, I may be a sucker, but I bought this kit after a few beers last week...
It was only $60 and after hearing opinions from the pros on here I have my doubts.

Anyway... It came in the mail today, so I thought I'd offer up a pic of what I recived (there were a couple zip ties not ...

Where are you located?

Its normally about $100 to have your car tuned, cheaper if you know someone. If there isnt anyone around you, INTENSE Racing does canned tunes for your car. $100.

We dont have chips, the PCM needs to get tuned. What you linked is snake oil and a waste of money :beerchug: :beerchug:

Re: Commonly Asked Performance Questions!!

I know I'm new here, but FWIW I vote sticky too!

I don't want to do any serious mods to my car, but I would like to improve performance a little...

I've already changed my air filter to a K&N Hi-Flow and I was thinking about one of the tuning chips.
I've heard good things about this one:
