Re: power windows slow, tranny hard shift, smells warm
gas cap: Here's basic quick checks... Could be triggered while filling tank with car on, faulty cap, not tightened cap. Have the code reset and see what happens.
When i had that problem it was a bad cap.
could be other issues but start there ...

Re: power windows slow, tranny hard shift, smells warm
Windows: you can buy just the motor check www.rockauto.com The regulator is what usually fails
Hard shift: Does it do it while the car is cold, warm, or all the time? Could be PCS sensor. I would do a trans pan drop replace filter and refill. While you have the pan drop you could look into adding a ...

Re: 2000 SSEI Sudden loss of first gear
The shop said that they overlooked the transmission and could not find anything wrong. They are stating that the ECM (I think they mean PCM) has a fault. Could this be true? Also could this be an issue resulting from swappping transmission's with the wrong code instead of actually rebuilding my unit?

Re: 2000 SSEI Sudden loss of first gear

Re: 2000 SSEI Sudden loss of first gear
Well I got the car back and noticed the RPMs would go up and the car did not move occasionally while turning when accelerating from a stop. I took it back they blamed it on the code for MAF sensor and they couldn't experience the problem only hesitation. I laughed and said okay I'll replace the ...

Re: 2000 SSEI Sudden loss of first gear
Just wanted to update...
Took it to two different shops and they both recommended a rebuild.
Rebuilt trans by a local trans shop $1700 with two year warranty. They claimed the "cookie cutter"? was at fault.
All is good now

Re: 2000 SSEI Sudden loss of first gear
What is the average price for a rebuild on this trans? Is there anything that is a MUST during a rebuild so I can verify the shop is aware.
Should I just go the used route instead of rebuild?

Insight:
