Re: Water Pump Removal Problem on 92 SSEi

Thanks again for the tips, Willwren. I will check out that discount on Rockauto, and examine the mount knuckle too. Hard to find that type of practical information in the book.

Re: Water Pump Removal Problem on 92 SSEi

Thanks for the tips, Willwren, I will watch for any of those clues. Any tips for removing that engine mount? And if/when I do replace the water pump, any suggestions for which brand pump to put back in?

Re: Water Pump Removal Problem on 92 SSEi

Appears to me the water pump on the 93 SSE is about the same as the 92. The instructions I have in the shop manual shows removing the accessory bracket, but also removing the engine mount. How difficult was removing the engine mount and reconnecting it afterwards? To me that part sounds more ...

Re: Stupid water pump

How difficult was it to replace your water pump. I have a 93 and it looks like there is an engine mount in the way of getting the bolts out, much less the pump.

Re: Instrument panel lights out

Don't know if you ever figured out the problem, but just saw your post. My repair manual, p. 8a 10-0 diagram, shows LH Underhood fuse block #3 40A is for theft deter/ELC/Radio/Instrument Cluster/Chime/AC fuse.
RH underhood fuse block # 7 40A is for Power Accessory/Horms/Interior Lamps/Fog Lamps fuse ...

Re: Coil pack for cylinders 1 and 4 failed twice in 7,000 miles

The 1&4 coil failed on my 93 SSE (150K mi) while I was on a road trip. Car started shaking very badly. I thought it was loose front wheel bearings--it was shaking that bad--since I had just replaced them. Had to go to a Pontiac dealer to find out what was wrong, and $159 later they told me it was ...

Re: overheating!! (belt swap)

thanks for the tips on removing the water pump after I remove the engine mount. I will be sure to get an extra case of beer for the job.
next question is should I work from the top side or from underneath to remove the pump and mount? I have access to a lift with a supplemental hydraulic lift to ...

Re: overheating!! (belt swap)

on the 93 SSE, it looks to me like the engine mount is right in the way of removing the water pump. Can you tell me if I will have to undo that engine mount to remove the water pump?

Re: Front cig lighter quit working

yes, I have tried with key on and key off. Back one works all the time. Front (dash) does not work at all. The front reciever socket started to work its way loose til the sleeve would rotate in the socket. I fixed that with Gorilla glue but now I wish I would not have done that since I may have to ...

Re: Front cig lighter quit working

Thanks for your replies, but both the fuse under the dash left of the steering column (power accsy), and the 50amp big fuse in the box on the firewall under the hood are good. Any other suggestions short of taking the dash apart?

Front cig lighter quit working

the front power source/cigarette lighter on my 93 SSE quit working. Back one still works fine, but hard to operate my iPOD from there while driving. Any ideas what to check or how to fix? My first thought was to take off the trim around the radio, pop out the radio and then see if I can get a look ...
