hey i replaced my foward band WITHOUT taking tranny out of car. theres a video on youtube "4t65e hd rebuild in car" i believe. by watching his vids i was able to rebuild my own. (in the parking lot of the apt complex i used to live in calif few months ago...lol) that dude saved me alot....total cost ...

Our Bonneville had stuff strapped to trunk and on roof. Loaded down the air shocks did their job and motor conquered the Rockies beautifully.well motor and tranny ; )

Yes we took 80 until salt lake city, then went to como Colorado , after visiting there drove to Denver till Nebraska border and hit 80 again than took 35 north to visit family in Iowa before we continue on.

went through exact same issue....first of all assuming the check engine light has not come on ,then your problem most likely is you busted the foward band.(verifiable by dropping trans oil pan and look for a small metal chunk approx. 1/2 to 1 inch....if there is a piece of metal than thats your ...

saturday loading up bonne for cross country adventure.

me ,my fiance and our kitty skittles are loading up the car and driving from sacramento ,calif to albany , ny......ill be posting tons of pics all along the way. add me on facebook if anyone wants to see how my adventure turns out..lol

it was just like the code said...the transmission speed sensor needed to be replaced....had to open her up and go into the case....

2 po717 codes after rebuild

after replacing bands in tranny now i have the check engine showing 2 po717 codes....plus my airbag light is on. any ideas? thanks for reading....

i did it and it worked. replaced the foward band ($30 amazon), manual band ($16 ebay), gaskets ($30 total) cheap,didnt have to remove trans. considering ive never done that before im amazed it works ,and its great. lots of power and smooth shifts and most of all i have my car back on the road ...

Congratulations!! I had to pull my 94 se trans to fix it. The project took forever. I'd love to confirm yu have a 2000 Bonneville? If so that's a huge change and I could relax knowing my weakening trans would be fixed.
yes indeed i have a 2000 bonneville. i did plenty of research on band ...

I believe you should have your tranny scanned. There are I think 2 different shift solenoids in the tranny. Good luck and please let us know what the problem is when you find out.

dropped the pan and found a small piece of broken metal in the pan... obviously a transmission mechanical ...
