Thanks for the replies guys!
Yep, original intake manifold. The only major items I've replaced are the cat, one wheel hub, and brake lines. I'm not too handy when it comes to cars unfortunately. But fortunately, the car passed emissions. Somehow, when I left work one day, the check engine light ...

Not sure what to do
Hey everyone.
I don't post a whole lot but I like to browse the forums from time to time. I'm looking for some advice on the car I've had for 10 years this week. Below are some stats.

Re: Purchasing a GXP
I decided to stick with my 1999 SLE. I looked at two GXPs with similar mileage for their year. One had a horrible wax job and many scratches all around and the other had water standing in the trunk. I love the cars now that I've test drove a couple, but I think I may hold out until G8s are in the ...

Thanks Jerry. I immediately noticed a bulb behind the radio was out- the salesman scoffed it off.

Re: Purchasing a GXP
I plan on taking it out again tomorrow in better weather. It was pouring buckets when I test drove it on Tuesday and didn't have an opportunity to open the hood, or give it some gas. They're asking $13,800 and it appears to have every option- I was able to look at the original sales sticker. The ...

Purchasing a GXP
Hi Everyone,
I'm not overly active on the forums, but am very fond of Bonnevilles and found a GXP for sale at the local dealership. It has 43,000 miles on it, black and black with what appears to be every option. I took it for a quick test drive on my lunch break and it felt smooth. Are there any ...

Re: Overdrive Problems
One bottle, got it. I'll look for shavings, if I find some, what would they indicate?

Re: Overdrive Problems
I appreciate the help- I'm going to look into dropping the pan like you suggested and adding a bottle or two of Lucas.
Thanks

Re: Overdrive Problems
Usually on the drive home, after the temp has risen into the 70s, overdrive isn't a problem. I can't help but think it's something to do with the outside temperature, but that sounds strange. Does anyone recommend Lucas?

Overdrive Problems
Hi Everyone- I tried searching through the threads but wasn't able to find a case identical to mine...
I have a 1999 SLE with 135,000 miles, mostly highway. I have a 12 mile commute to work and I live in Connecticut, so coldish winters. This winter, my car wouldn't go into overdrive during my ...

Broken Stock Stereo?
A few weeks ago a went through an automatic car wash that was a little harsh. Each cycle seemed very powerful and shook my entire car, a 1999 SLE. A couple days after I went through the car wash I heard some crackling sounds out of my left rear speaker, of which I've replaced both the rears. Now, I ...

Re: Replacing rear 6x9 speakers?
Are these instructions at all similar to pre-00 Bonnevilles? I'm interested in doing the same exchange on my 99. Where did you find these instructions?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Rear Tire/Wheel/Hub Problem?
I've come to the conclusion that it is the wheel hub. I tried spinning the wheel and there was a lot of drag, the wheel wouldn't spin freely. I priced out a wheel hub from Autozone and they go for $162. Has anyone tried this? Are there any surprises to be expected in the rear drum brake? I don't ...

Re: Rear Tire/Wheel/Hub Problem?
If you have someone shake the tire at 3 and 9 and you look behind the wheel you should be able to tell if its the hub or tie-rod. The tire rod will show play where it attaches to the spindle. If you don't see any movement there then its most likely the hub.

Re: Rear Tire/Wheel/Hub Problem?
lift the rear of the car.
Using your hands, shake the tire at the 3 & 9 o'clock positions, then at 12 & 6.
Having play while shaking at the 3 & 9 positions is also an indicator of bad inner tie rod.
Interesting. Is there any way to distinguish between the two? Will the clicking point towards ...

Re: Rear Tire/Wheel/Hub Problem?
Thanks for the reply. Those steps sound fairly complicated, but what I expected. Will it be any more difficult considering I have rear drum brakes on my Bonneville? This sounds like it'll be an all day event.

Re: Rear Tire/Wheel/Hub Problem?
Thanks for the help guys. I just had my car up and shook the right rear wheel which was originally giving me problems. At 12 and 6, I could not hear or feel any movement. At 9 and 6, I hear a heavy clicking sound with the wheel moving back and forth very slightly. Just for my sanity, I did the other ...
