Re: Cam sensor / magnet split from BonneMe's wanted thread
I thought you were confusing the crank and cam sensors because I didn't realize that the cam gear had a magnet, sorry, my bad. But yes, I have seen a bad cam sensor cause a 92/93 supercharged car to die and not restart. Also I have seen a magnet fall out of a crank sensor, but it was on a 3300 ...

Nada means he's wrong. But I provided the correct info in the post above.J Wikoff wrote:I don't know what nada means, but I agree with Crash. My magnet went awol and I didn't get in to replace it for a couple weeks. Ran a little crappy most of the time.

Cam sensor / magnet split from BonneMe's wanted thread
AFAIK, a bad cam sensor or magnet falling off the cam gear will not cause a no run / no start problem. On the Series ! engine anyways.
I believe the camshaft position sensor is used for injector timing only and if it is bad you will have a 1 in 6 chance of the injector timing being correct while ...

Re: 80's firebird running hot
These cars are common for having plugged catalytic converters, that will make it run hot! Another possibility is a faulty mass airflow sensor causing it to run lean making it hot! Make sure the fan is spinning in the proper direction as well. Check it out and keep us posted!

Re: My car is fast!
My max psi kinda depends on the outside air temp and humidity too, it varies a bit... I usually see around 12psi, but honestly 11-13psi. The car has been basically "done" now (mechanically) for about 16 months. I drive it every day, and haven't really had any major issues thus far. It hooks pretty ...

Re: My car is fast!
115 to 119 in the 1/4 eh? On a series I?
How much boost are you running?
What injectors?
That info can be found on page 1. Please remember that my car is 1000lbs+ lighter than a Bonneville.
My FWI is in the works. I haven't had much time lately, I'm in the process of moving, and I did up a ...

Re: My car is fast!
A little more info on the cam? INTENSE blanks won't even come close to working in a Series 1, even with the proper grind. IIRC, the lobe and boss spacing/stagger is very different.
What are the grind specs? Which manifold (walled or unwalled) did you choose? Who did your porting on that, the SC ...

Re: My car is fast!
Not bad at all!! What do you have for a muffler?
Is there enough room for you to slap a FWI on there? That would sound badass
I have a dynomax super turbo muffler on it right now, and I hate it! Plus glasspacked mufflers and boosted cars don't mix, they tend to blow out right away and ...

Re: My car is fast!
The TH125 3 speed transmission is actually out of a 1987 Grand Am with a 3.0 V6 and is VERY heavily built and is holding up just fine.
Here is one crappy video of it running with a junk sc tensioner pulley making noise, a vacuum leak, and about 3 or 4 minor exhaust leaks... The video has a very ...

I have a full interior, factory glass, AC, heat, spare tire, and a jack! The 3 speed trans helps shave alot of weight off the front end compared to the 4 speed!2000Silverbullet wrote:How did you shave that much weight off the car?
It must be totally gutted with no A/C, lexan windows and no back seats

Re: My car is fast!
I think you need headers, get rid of those manifolds....how did you time these "low, low 12s"?
My manifolds flow good enough for now, I'm going to have a welder/fabricator buddy of mine make me some headers this summer still. I can't foresee buying some expensive headers, because the rear ...

Re: My car is fast!
If you don't mind my asking as I know many have expressed interest in the past. Would you mind sharing the approximate cost to have the custom cam made?

My car is fast!
I would just like to share with everyone the fact that my car is freaking fast! How fast, not sure, in the low low 12's somewhere, lol!!! One more thing to take care of before a trip to the dragstrip, cracked windshield, booooo! Hopefully I can find a good used one and save some $$$... Wish me luck ...
