I've got a '92 GM 3800 with 175k miles on it. I don't think the transmission fluid has ever been changed. I'm about to take a trip with it, and was wondering if I should swap in some fresh fluid?
There is so much debate, with some saying this will ruin the transmission, and others saying it won't ...

Goodbye - sold my Bonneville. ~250k miles and still strong
This club has been imensely helpful during the 7 years I've owned my 1992 Pontiac Bonneville.
I just wanted to give a recap of my ownership. I bought the car with 120k miles on it. My car had somewhere around 230-260K miles on it when I sold it. The odometer quit working at 140K miles, and seemed ...

Re: "pulsing" in power output
Thanks.
Any input on the diagnostic connector to get the codes? Does the '92 have one?

"pulsing" in power output
My 92 Bonne developed a problem on the way home tonight. Under load, the power seems to switch on and off, I guess you would call it a "miss". When under load, around 3-4K rpm, it seemed to do this with perfect rythum, every half second or so. Since it was only a half second without power, I couldn ...

Re: How to tell that the gaskets have been changed?
Uhh...guys, rememeber that we're talking about a '92 L27 here.
You can change them yourself.
The aluminum gaskets are only for Series II engines.
How many miles are on it..and which gaskets are you referring to specifically besides the LIM gaskets?
The LIM gaskets are between the LIM and the ...

How to tell that the gaskets have been changed?
Is there anyway to tell that the intake gaskets have been changed by just looking at the engine? I was hoping you could look at the edge of the gasket, and the new aluminum ones might look different than the stock ones??
If you could look at the "edge" of the gasket, where exactly is this intake ...

Need help with a window motor/regulator
My other car, a 1992 Chevy Lumina APV (minivan) is having problems with the driver's side window. It goes down ok, but has pretty much stopped going up on its own. I need to "help" it to get it to close. I've never replaced a motor/regulator, but I'm guessing doing so would fix my problem.
So I ...

Suck tranny fluid out the dipstick tube?
Its been about 80,000 miles since my last transmission fluid change, when I paid around $80 to have a shop drop the pan and change fluid and filter. I've since moved, and the shop here wants $120 to do a flush, which includes flush chemicals, and I really don't want to do that on my 200K mile ...

Re: Can the radio be replaced?
Aftermarket. I haven't even bought the car yet, I'm still trying to decide. It seems there is a common problem with the lighting in the stock unit, and I would probably just replace it with an aftermarket. But then I read people saying they couldn't replace the stock radio with anything else because ...

Can the radio be replaced?
I read somewhere that the radio in 2000+ Bonne's can not be replaced because it performs some other "brain" functions for the car? Is this true, or just true with certain options? (like HUD)
