The name of the transmission shop was AAMCO. They did a great job on rebuilding the transmission and since they had to pull the transmission for service, they only charged me for the part price of the CV joint.

Resolution for engine noise!! Finally
I submitted a question way back in 2008 that went like this: "I get the same noise like a bearing going bad (a whine) but mine only occurs when driving the car at around ... if you lift up on the gas, the noise goes away. There is no noise if you rev the engine when it is in park. It only seems to ...

Unknown Battery Drain
I have a 2000 SSEi with about 97K miles on it and I'm having a problem with a dead battery after a few days. I have replaced the battery and have had Advance Auto run a check on the electrical system and they tell me that the battery is OK, the alternator and starter are OK, but there is a 1.9 Amp ...

Re: Code P0742 Torque Converter
Hey Archon,
Thanks for the prompt response! You are an ace on this page and a wonderful person. I will go through the list and let you know what I find. By the way, I bought a can of Sea Foam Trans Fluid and dumped 1/2 of the can in and ran the car for more than 5 miles and did not have any problems ...

Code P0742 Torque Converter
I had the trouble code P0742 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Stuck On. Has anybody had this code before? What is the fix for this since I am not an expert with the automatic transmission on my 2000 SSEi? I'm not sure where to even start looking for this. Thanks for any and all help on this.

Re: sunroof air deflector broke...
I had the same problem on my 2000 SSEi and went to gmpartsdirect.com and ordered one that was easy to install. They delivered the part promptly and I was very satisfied. Good luck.

Re: Tire Recommendations
On my 2000 SSEi, I have only had to use one set of new tires since my car has 88,000 miles on it. The Michelins are a fantastic tire and since I replaced the original tires (at 33,000 miles) that came on the car, the Michelins have about 55,000 miles on them and I expect them to still get another 10 ...

Gas Mileage
I noticed on the wife's 2000 SSEi that the gas mileage has been dropping. No trouble codes or other performance issues. The car has approx. 87,000 original miles on it and I replaced the plugs and wires a year ago (NGK plugs and Belden wires). Any ideas on what else to check? The car still has the ...

Re: Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor
I have a 2000 SSEi and according to AlldataDIY, the Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor is mounted on the pump assembly that is accessed through the trunk. You can see the attachd writeup that Hans did on replacing the fuel level sensor. The Pressure sensor is mounted on the top of the assembly I think. At ...

Re: Strange noise coming from engine bay
I get the same noise like a bearing going bad (a whine) but mine only occurs when driving the car at around 50 MPH and it only occurs when you are pressing on the gas pedal. Once the noise starts, if you lift up on the gas, the noise goes away. There is no noise if you rev the engine when it is in ...

Re: Oil Pressure Gage
Hey Aviator,
That sounds like the issue. When my oil pressure sensor went out, it pegged the gage also. It was a quick fix since the sensor is near the oil filter and is easily replaced. Just have a rag or something to stick in the hole when you take out the sensor to keep oil from draining. It's ...

Re: connector on rear wheel hub
Harofreak,
Looking at the Alldata site for the 2000 Bonneville and researching the wiring diagram for the wheel speed sensors on the rear hubs, it looks like there are only two wires going to the sensor, one black and one white. Do you have access to the Alldata site? If not, I will try and figure ...

Re: shakey steer
I'm not sure if this will help but I had the same type of torque steer in a 2000 Cadillac STS and it turned out to be a bad motor mount. You might want to check the motor mounts on the Pontiac just to make sure. I never figured out how motor mounts caused torque steer but it solved my problem.

Also, the steering wheel radio controls won't work on a new radio unless it is a stock replacement. (at least without some major modification, I think
