03 Bonne retired after muffler exploded
I recently retired (brought to the yard) my 03, SE 3.8L Bonne with 229k on it after 11 yrs. The body and interior were pretty beat up after a few accidents and sunroof leaks. It was totaled 2x and I kept it going. I recently had a clogged cat and some ignition issues over the last year or 2. I took ...

Re: 2003 Cranks, but no start
Backpressure and vacuum test showed no exhaust restriction. When this started a few weeks ago, I suspected a bad coil. Once hot, I heard they can give trouble. I had one original ac delco and 2 cheaper ones I put on the last few years. So I replaced all 3 with Delphi good quality made in the usa $30 ...

Re: 2003 Cranks, but no start
nice thought, I will try, but yesterday the engine light finally came on after 2 weeks and 250 miles, I have the 420 cat code and checked the donwstream sensor signal, it does move from 0.2 to 0.5, so that might back it up. I will try the exhaust back pressure test soon and if that confirms it, I ...

Re: 2003 Cranks, but no start
I double checked, all plug wires are ok, I had everything marked, i am thinking exhaust restriction, will perform a back pressure test soon. I just tested the maf and cleaned it. also vacuum gauge exhaust test showed ok. Magnaflow cat is only 1.5 years old.

Re: 2003 Cranks, but no start
after 1 week of driving and testing nothing found. the car starts up hot and cold fine all week. I tested the fuel regulator and injectors for leaks and all ok. Car runs fine except for hard acceleration- going up a hill, flooring it from a stop, hard acceleration on the highway- it stumbles ...

Re: 2003 Cranks, but no start
update on my no start- I pulled all the plugs for a compression test and all soaked with fuel. The compression test showed all cylinders ok. Decided to put new plugs since they were fuel soaked and the car started right up. It ran fine and restarted ok. Not sure of the cause of fuel/flooded ...

2003 Cranks, but no start
Just started to troubleshoot, but need any advice that may help. I have a SE 3.8L with 225k on it. I have a crank, but no start. I pulled up 2 codes P0140, downstream O2, and P0300, random misfire. Car ran fine, than the next day would not start. I have 50 psi fuel pressure and getting spark on all ...

Re: Cadillac converter
I used a Magnaflow 99306HM Universal on my 03, it was 85 and got it welded on for 80, you need a cat, do not go without one, this was the cheapest path, code 0420 and clogged cats resolved, pass emissions and right for the environment

Re: For those who replaced blower motor-Help with which part
I bought this from rock auto 6 yrs ago and installed nicely with no modification- DELPHI BM10009 Blower Motor $ 53.79 , but I see rock auto does not have it anymore, I would go with 4 seasons, it looks like a good price and they are a good company. I would not go to a used one on this, not worth it ...

Re: Transmission just quit. How much to rebuild/replace? $20
you did very good with the $2000 trans, and even though it is alot for an old car, well worth it, the bonne will go to 300k and more, so you have a lot left, if your body is in good shape, you did the right thing. The buick I just did a trans on for 1700 had 210k miles on it, so it is very common to ...

Re: Transmission just quit. How much to rebuild/replace? $20
A trans shop should be able to give you a quote to rebuild the trans and not run the game like your Aamco did. Maybe a 200 increase if it needs something unexpected. I just had a 4t65e rebuilt in NJ for 1700 incl tax. I had a Jasper 3yr, 100k warranty trans in another car for 3000 and at 110k miles ...

Re: 2002 SE 3.8L Catalytic Converter Removal
more catalytic converter info/story- I have a 03 Bonne SE with 193k, I had the cat code p0420 for about 1 yr, car ran fine, but NJ inspection coming up. The downstream 02 sensor data showed a bad cat as it mimicked the upstream signal. Following the advice from this forum, I went with a 99306HM ...

Re: Need new struts - any suggestions?
I used monroe quick struts on my 03 and have them on about 5 yrs and 50k, rides nice and still going strong, I know people will tell you the ride height is a problem, but after a few months it goes back to normal, on an 2000 bonne, I recommend to go with these, good price and easy job

Re: 2004 Bonneville Stalls Intermittently
you do not need to replace the cam sensor with the cps. I changed my cps sensor last year in an 03 and also did not get the pcm relearn and the car runs fine, no codes. use ac delco

Re: HELP !!!! Chgd struts,,,now front end shakes
grease around the axle boot? if so, it may be the cv joint. I used monroe quick struts and the height is a little higher, after about 1 yr it lowers to normal. the slight height change should not cause any vibration. if the installation/mount is incorrect it may cause vibration. I would check the ...

Re: '01 SSEi Transmission Issues
it sounds like the tranny is bad, probably the torque converter, does the tranny have 250k miles on it? if it does, that is pretty good and you probably reached its life. check for transmission codes, you probably have a few of them- delayed shift, etc. Not much you can do or should do, bring it to ...

Re: Hesitation stumble
1st check for any codes, start with checking fuel trim (stft/ltft) with the scan tool, it may be a vacuum leak, also check the fuel pressure. It can be many things, sounds like a lean condition. Start with the scan tool. If you do not have any and can't rent it or go to someone, then try chevron ...

Re: Rear Windows and Door Locks not working
It was the splice under the drivers seat. It was corroded. I soldered in a splice and everything now works. Problem due to water/sunroof drain. Thanks for your help, both of you were right on.

Re: Rear Windows and Door Locks not working
thanks guys, I will work on it this weekend and check all of that. I will tape up the window for the snow that is coming. my guess is it will be the wiring under the seat. I will let you know.
