Tried that. Lasted 2 days. I'm thinking I might be able to drill into the mounting socket and mount some sort of metal bar. Gotta search my miscellaneous parts and fasteners collection.

My wife has a 93SSE and loves her double sun visor, especially late in the afternoon. The part of the left plastic mounting bracket on the driver's side, that holds the secondary visor (the one that doesn't pivot) has broken. I am looking for a clever way to re-secure that visor. Thanks to blye for the idea of using a gas strut, like the ones that are used on mini-van hatches. There just weren't any springs available in from wrecking yards in my area. Thanks for Icebound's excellent instructions on replacing the trunk spring and some updated observations.

-Confirmed from several dealers that the springs are no longer available from GM and that the supply at Vintage Auto Parts is gone. Salvage yards are the only source.
