[quote="willwren"]Most locksmiths (big enough business to actually have a store, not a mobile-only smith) will have the key. You have to know the value of the key, though. There are varying resistance in the chip resistor that the VATS module is looking for.

How to replace the ignition key?
I hope it is appropriate to post here. I lost the only ignition key of my 2000 buick regal ls. The key has a chip on it.
I wonder what is the best solution? Will dealer be able to cut a key for me based on VIN number? How much it will cost?
Thanks.

Re: Intermittent stalling after LIM repair
Thanks for the quick reply. I did got my key stcuk in the ignition cylinder several times before. So the ignition switch is indeed faulty. I wonder if this faulty switch would also cause some contact problem that shut down my car?Archon wrote:The latter.

Re: Intermittent stalling after LIM repair
That's the Brake Transmission Shift Interlock. It may keep you from being able to shift out of park, or into park and remove your key, but shouldn't cause a stalling problem.
Do you mean the faulty ignition switch will not cause a to stall? Or you mean this specific malfunction of Brake ...

Ignition switch?
Ok, I brought the car into shop today. The shop is highly regarded in local community. The mechanics didn't find anything screwed during the LIM repair. He found the ignition switch is bad, " Ignition switch BTSI circuit is open circuited". Does this make sense?

Re: Intermittent stalling after LIM repair
When it stalls, check to see if you are getting spark. Checking fuel pressure would help, too. Also, take the car somewhere to get the code pulled.
The light was only on for a short while. I tried to pull code using a OBD II scanner, but it seems there is no code stored.

Hi folks,
After 8 hour outside in 35 degree, I finally put in a new LIM gasket on my regal ls. However, my wife complained that I screwed the car since it stalled once on her. I checked the car over, no loose connection of power and vaccum, engine runs smoothly. Today, as temprature is extremely ...

Yes, it works. I took out UIM and TB as a whole piece. Then unbolt TB from UIM for a complete cleaning.

Re: LIM out, please have a look of the old LIM gasket
Does it appear that there was sealant on both sides? I can see in the picture it looks like some on the LIM surface, but was there any on the block or head surface? When I do them, I always put a dab of sealant on before the gaskets and then another on right after.

Replacing LIM gasket, one quick question about TB removal
Hi,
I am having some fun tearing apart the LIM. I have some problem to remove the TB because one bolt is blocked by TB bracket. Some one suggested to push away the bracket to give enough clearance. I want to if I can ubolt UIM with TB as a whole piece, then remove the TB?
Thanks.

Couldn't help but notice the proximity to the notorious coolant elbow. What are the chances of it spraying on to the gasket, and running down from there?

Re: Where is the source of coolant around LIM, passenger sid
If the leak is seeping past the LIM gasket, and out there, you can be certain that at least that much, and likely more, is leaking into the lifter valley and then into the oil. It's not something that I'd suggest that you ignore.
Well, I am also considering replacing the LIM gasket. A quick ...

Just for what it's worth my 95 has a coolant leak in that exact spot. It was wet when I got it 5 years ago but now it leaks about a half gallon a month especially during the colder months.

Where is the source of coolant around LIM, passenger side?
Hi folks,
I really need some help from GM3800 gurus. The N/A 3800 II in my regal ls got the updated LIM gasket (the aluminum GM parts) about three years ago. Last week I noticed the coolant leak around LIM at passenger side. http://i52.tinypic.com/2u8832a.jpg
