I fear my Gypsy is ready for the boneyard.

Had a small oil leak (along with an existing coolant leak) and added an oil stabilizer to "rejuvenate" seals and gaskets. Drove around for a bit as per instructions and parked the car. The next day there was a coolant and oil leak the entire size of the car on the driveway. I have no idea what ...

Re: Car dies after u-turn...

There is a complete (Pontiac Bonneville 2000-2005 Service Repair Manual) in electronic form. I can share it.
If it applies to the GXP please post it. Better yet inbox it to me because I can't find any copies of this thing and it's probably because GM's legal team is constantly taking them offline ...

Re: Car dies after u-turn...

That's actually the thread I read but I didn't notice harofreak was the one that posted it, right on. But what's the deal though, I saw a tech2 before but it was being used in conjunction with a laptop. It was this rugged laptop thing. 2 different things? And is there a civilian version of the GM ...

Re: Car dies after u-turn...

It runs in a web browser on a virtual machine because its so much better than a PDF. Here is a video demonstrating how it works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gKz4mKnv0w

The first 7 minutes of the video explain the old installation process, after 7:37 shows how it works. The MiniXP version ...

Re: Car dies after u-turn...

The alternator is more of a job through the wheel-well than under the car. The belt will be available at any parts store. I would get a new pump with reservoir as you said your reservoir is wet (potentially leaking).

If you're good with computers and understand how to download torrents and run ...

Re: Car dies after u-turn...

Also on an unrelated note, can someone sell me a working Bonneville Gxp in decent condition? I'm in Canada but we can ship it or I can hitchhike over or something. This is ridiculous lol.. One thing after another.

Re: Car dies after u-turn...

I know you need to get under the car to get to the alternator but that's about it. I've given up on finding the service manual for this car so what I know is what I pieced together from this forum and the Cadillac forum.
Also, do I get the power steering pump with the reservoir or can I reuse the ...

Re: Car dies after u-turn...

That's probably it, considering my steering reservoir is always moist from the steering fluid for some reason. As preventative measures, does it make sense to replace the belts as well as the alternator? I mean I need to get into that side of the car come summer because I need to replace the AC ...

Car dies after u-turn...

I really, really have no idea what this is. My mechanic doesn't either. Whenever I turn the steering wheel as far as it goes, as with a u turn, my car dies. Everything shuts off, I have to put it in park and restart the engine. The first time it happened I was pulling into a parking spot from an ...

Re: Ignition coil question

I'm SO confused with this car. I still haven't found any good documentation; a used shop manual for the Bonneville is like $400, Helm only has a generic GM Manual, so every time I looked under the hood I just say "Nope" and close it back up.
Rockauto is suggesting I buy this with the coil pack ...

Re: Ignition coil question

As far as I know, none of them will require a wiring kit. They come with the updated wiring for the updated coil connector. The older white cap coils won't work with that harness.
Ehhh... hypothetically, if I still have the white cap coils in my car, does that mean the harness I have won't work ...

Ignition coil question

I have a 5th cylinder misfire (P0305) and it's been a fairly consistent code, but I guess it's a good idea to replace all of the ignition coils at the same time, along with the spark plugs, but my question is which ignition coils will be an original replacement and not require a wiring kit? My ...

Re: Hose kits for the GXP?

My OBDII scanner is picking up two codes, but they are identical. p0446, and p0446 P. I have no idea what the "p" part means and googling yielded zero answers. I have been fiddling with my car, the coolant is no longer dripping after I put in 2 more stopleak tablets, but I've noticed it does ...

Re: Hose kits for the GXP?

Yeah I was going to say, I looked at the engine and while there are some hoses and lines, it looked nothing like the 3800. At least it's not like some cars where there are vacuum lines running under the interior trim of the car, but I was kind of hoping there was a kit at least to make things easier ...

Hose kits for the GXP?

After a long period of consideration, I've decided to keep my Bonneville GXP and will try to make the best of it. I've become attached to this car. The coolant no longer leaks after the sealing tablet treatment, so hopefully it's not the water pump housing like the stealership suspected it. While ...

This might help with your steering wheel position sensor issue:

Re: Frustration at lack of available parts..

Actually thanks for the great idea, HaroFreak00 (is that a reference to BMX by any chance?) It got me thinking. What I'm gonna do is scrap the original hood liner + fiberglass crap and get my hands on a SecondSkin hood liner kit. It's both sound dampening and insulation! I have no idea why this ...

Grounding kit for the GXP?

I've done this in my Japanese car and it helped tremendously, but since the battery in the GXP is in the trunk, I wanted to find out if anyone's been able to do this? What you basically do is get some thick multi strand insulated 0-4ga audio wire, cut it into various lengths, and crimp and heatgun ...
