Re: What did you do to your car today?

Replaced the front brake hoses and flushed the whole system. Gotta cash in on those rare 50° days in the middle of Winter!

Re: Is It Just Another Old Car or?

Ugh, this particularly strikes me.. I'll be picking up my new title on Wednesday for a Benz e350 and it'll be the first time I could say that the Bonneville is no longer my primary vehicle.

Unfortunately, I'll be looking to get rid of my ol' gal for lack of excess parking in my neighborhood. It ...

Re: dimmer switch issues

1993 B here. I've got Twilight Sentinal too, but I never use it. My headlight switch has had some kind of issue since I bought the car. If I rotate the switch to adjust the brightness, my dash panel will flicker on and off, headlights unaffected. It seems like a faulty switch, but since just ...

Re: 1993 Bonneville SE starts then immediately turns off

FWIW there should be a hose clamp keeping the air hose (between air box and throttle body) in place on BOTH ends.

Re: Rain related electrical issue

I'm wondering if I may have a crack in the cover of that box. It's strange. This morning was very wet, but by this afternoon it should be dry and warm, and I'd bet Vegas that I don't see one strange bit of activity.

Re: Rain related electrical issue

Thanks JRS, I believe you're probably right. It started just fine this morning with no issue, but then when I was getting ready to hit the interstate, I turned on my lights and had a weird stutter. Then, later on as I hit the brakes, the car went haywire with lights and binging noises. There were ...

Rain related electrical issue

Hello everybody,

Over the course of the last year or so, I've been experiencing very minor electrical issues when driving in the rain, or shortly after a rainstorm -- sometimes even just in foggy weather.

It started when i noticed that my car would sometimes feel bogged down on acceleration. I ...

Re: Whine

Always wondered this myself. Mine does the same thing accelerating up to about 25 mph. I'm sure it does it after that as well, but then the engine noise is louder and it fades out. Whine increases with speed, RPM, you name it. Fluids are good in my case too. Best I could figure is that somehow it ...

Re: High Idle and No 4th gear

It acts awful. Unplugging the TPS shoudn't change much... Sadly, I drove my car for months without it connected. I lost MPG, Cruise control (that I don't use) and had to deal with a SES light, but that's basically it. A few minor issues with feathering the pedal at slow speeds...

Anyway, with a bad ...

Sounds like a funny TB. I was noticing weird acceleration or revving issues when my throttle position sensor was going kaput

Re: Alternator fun!

Oh no, it took me about 15 minutes to swap to new, I just didn't want to create a mess that I'm SURE would have been talked about if I were replacing bearings. (The future in-laws are not car people, and certainly wouldn't see the purpose of me fixing old rather than buying new.)

Anyhow I picked it ...

Alternator fun!

Hello all!

I just have a quick question about replacing my alternator. The car is now tipping 170k miles and it's still gripping to the final straws of it's (seemingly) original alternator. Being that I've only had the car for the last 40k miles or so, I'm not sure if it was ever serviced. The ...

Foggy Center Tail fix!

It's not perfect, but they look much better. Because my center tails were looking rather dull, I figured I'd take a little time to polish them up and see what I could do. Granted, I was just using regular Maguires Polishing Compound (and not a true headlight resto alternative), but I think it looks ...

Re: Help! I broke off the passeger mirror!

Most importantly, if he were to find out you had broken it, accidents happen.. It's a pretty simple job, but you shouldn't feel like you're in major trouble. My buddy's wife drove his three–day–old civic si too far into the garage and caused much worse damage.. He was irritated but he told her ...

Re: Look at what i found in the under my car

Yep. Trust me. I'm a pretty patient guy, but these (seemingly simple) jobs are always the best at testing my temper. I'm gonna be doing this job soon by the look of it. I found a very rusty piece #4 under my car when I was replacing the calipers a couple weeks ago... :(

Gross, yeah this is the same problem I'm having with my 1993. I'm not getting any codes thrown at all, and my TPS is only about a year old. Great...

I feel liek it's gotta be related to the temperature of the tranny, though because it hadn't happened all Winter, but now that hotter weather is about ...

Re: Possible transmission noise...

I've been having strange problems with my lockup as well lately...wonder if that could help. Seems to want to cancel/disable o/d all together when the tranny gets warm... Driving up mountains, I have to disable it or I risk not having o/d when I top the mountain or up until I restart the engine ...

Re: Considering replacement muffler

Thanks guys.. I never considered the resonator. IF you have any other ideas keep suggesting... But the truth is that with my driving style and trying to preserve the car as long as possible, I rarely drive over 3k RPMs... I honestly might crack it once every couple of days.. I do give her a good ...
