So Dad is still fighting with insurance on a settlement for the Buick (even though the other party is at 100% fault, and the other party admitted on a recorded line that he was 100% at fault, his insurance is trying to place dad 30% at fault, so dad's insurance is fighting back on that).
however ...

Re: Dad's new 2003 Park Avenue Ultra
It's been a long time since I've posted here, as I moved on from my LeSabre into the Infiniti world. My dad has still been rocking the '03 Park Avenue Ultra for the last 9 years, and has given it a lot of love. It's pretty much had every piece of suspension replaced for maintenance, a new ...

DIY EVAP Smoke Machine
Hey everyone! Long time no chat!
Mods, feel free to move this as necessary. I figured this could go in General since a ton of us have had vacuum leaks and EVAP leaks on our cars over the year! The UIM gasket plagued my old LeSabre several times, and I would have loved to have had this option back ...

Re: Daily 07 G35s 6MT
Ouch, sorry to see the G got hit Mike. That's nearly the same spot that someone raked down the side of mine in a parking lot. You do have the benefits of having an 07 though, so the headlights are much cheaper than the 10+ design. Hopefully you can work a fair deal with insurance on it. I'm guessing ...

Re: Daily 07 G35s 6MT
I'm late to reply, but yep that's the infamous "VQ Hiss". I installed my RHFC's and exhaust, and it's definitely audible but a bit less intense than other's I have heard. I only have a Top Speed y-back, so it isn't the loudest exhaust so that can help. I think having resonated HFC's helps mask the ...

Re: Daily 07 G35s 6MT
Yeah....the throttle bodies on the V36 and later VQ platforms are a nightmare...I went through the same thing when I cleaned the throttle bodies on mine, but I lucked out and the idle relearn worked on the 2nd try with the pedal dance. I hate how complicated Nissan made these motors, but I do ...

Re: LIM Replaced??? Blow Head Gasket. Need some help please.
rule of thumb with oil pressure is 10+psi per 1,000 RPM's. It should be a little higher than that, but you said that a mechanic rebuilt the bottom end due to a spun bearing? There have been a lot of people on here that have had trouble with rebuilt 3800's due to the extremely tight clearances they ...

Jesus that is definitely cringe-worthy to see. Glad you caught that before it became a major safety concern Mike!
Any interest in ever doing the '10-'13 sport front end swap on the car? A lot of the late year G35/early G37 guys are doing it now.

Re: LIM Replaced??? Blow Head Gasket. Need some help please.
as far as I understand, the metal edged gaskets solve the problem caused by plastic original ones.
Yep! I used OEM GM metal-framed gaskets on my Buick, and it was still going strong with over 60,000 miles on the new gaskets when I sold the car. Otherwise, make sure that you get the end seals set ...

Sorry to hear that man! Post up some pics of what you find if you don't mind. Always interested in seeing what caused failures like this when they aren't as common.

Re: LIM Replaced??? Blow Head Gasket. Need some help please.
I would definitely do a leak down test before you tear into things to verify that it truly is exhaust gas in the coolant. If there is exhaust coming in for sure, then you may be one of the rare few that has a head/head gasket issue. Hopefully that's not the case, and maybe it was just a slipped ...

Re: LIM Replaced??? Blow Head Gasket. Need some help please.
From the LIM jobs I've done, everything that would be going through the exhaust should be burnt off in a few minutes. Anything spilled in the engine bay might take a few heat cycles to fully burn off, but if you don't have any more leaks, you should have clear exhaust fairly quickly I would imagine.

Re: New Ride! 2013 G37 Journey
That sucksssss. I purposely park in the street at my work vs. the parking lot just so there's one or two less idiots near my car.
Same here, I try to park as far away from other cars as possible, but there's always that one idiot that seems to be attracted to you like a magnet. It sucks too ...

Re: New Ride! 2013 G37 Journey
So this happened recently....a jerk decided to scrape down the side of the G in a parking lot while we grocery shopped, and then drove off without leaving any info. I purposely park far away to avoid this, but in doing so, that put me out of range of the store's cameras, so no luck finding out who ...

Re: What did you do to your car today?
Did some maintenance on the G over the weekend. Oil change (sent a sample out to blackstone since this was the 2nd change since owning it), 3x drain and refill on the transmission fluid, replaced a broken exhaust hanger (rubber was broken by previous owner hitting something), and then proceeded to ...

Re: 1993 SSE: 17 years of pictures to replace photobucket lo
If it makes you feel better, my wife has given my "G37" the "it's really nice...but I still hate when you want to: talk about it, touch it, mod it, wash it, etc" So even though it's much nicer than my LeSabre, she isn't going to start liking cars any time soon.
Glad to see the SSE is still going ...

Re: New Ride! 2013 G37 Journey
I'm loving the tires so far. I've put about 100 miles on them, and they just stick. The Goodyear/General combo that was on there before just felt mushy and would spin with ease. I can still get the Comp-2's to spin, but you really have to try. It's so much more planted in the corners, and steering ...

Re: New Ride! 2013 G37 Journey
I finally got my new wheels and tires mounted! For simplicity, the specs on the wheels and tires are here:
Konig Oversteer 18x9 +35
BF Goodrich G-Force Comp 2 A/S 245/45R18
They replaced the garbage 17's with 225 tires. Eventually I'll switch to a staggered setup with 265's in the rear, but for ...
