Re: 98 Bonneville SE A/C only Blows cold on driver side ?
If you look up under the pass. fender, you'll see a black tank with a vacuum line attached. It's directly under the battery tray, and accessible from under the car.

Re: Wash & New Tint
The tint was done by a local glass shop; it's Llumar film, 35% front, 20% rear. I don't think it's something I would want to try myself, especially the rear windshield.
Do you have an attachment to the stickies on the trunk?
I can't make it out what they say, but I just got finished pulling my 15 ...

Re: 98 Bonneville SE A/C only Blows cold on driver side ?
The airflow is more than likely moving to the windshield vents under load, this is caused by a loss of vacuum. Check the vacuum tank (under the pass. fender on the 96-99, not sure about 00+) for cracks and make sure the fitting is on securely. If the tank is fine, you should check the entire length ...

Re: 98 with ac problems
At this point that system is pretty far gone, it definitely requires evaluation by a shop. They'll charge the system with a UV dye and try to find exactly what seals are leaking, or if the condenser or evaporator are damaged.
If the system was overcharged, it's possible that you've got blown seals ...

That's the brake fluid level sensor. What exactly is it that the sensor within the master cylinder is measuring when it sets the Brake light off?

Decided to take a look at the ELC system today to try and figure out why it's not working, and found the lines looking like that... The lines going into either end of the plastic T fitting are completely deteriorated, I'm not ...

These are great cars, my dad has a 2008 SEL V6, Black/Black leather. Needed nothing other than oil changes, tires, and rear brakes in almost 130,000KM. Still drives and handles like new.

Re: Loud Front end clunk
The strut mounts on my old Ninety Eight made a clunk sound at low speed when taking tight corners. In my case the steering wheel wouldn't return to center after the mount made the clunk sound, so the alignment was off until I turned the wheel in the opposite direction.

It's an F41 car... If I remember correctly all F41-equipped cars got the ELC system? I've never heard the compressor kick on, so that's probably why it's sitting a little low.Jrs3800 wrote:My only question is this.... The car looks like it sits down... It has to be an FE2 or F41 Equipped car...

Re: Parked on an incline, car barely started or ran.
Any water in the fuel tank should have settled at the far end of the tank with the nose pointed up, away from the fuel pump pickup
And so would the fuel.... How full was the tank, and is it original? I've heard that the baffles inside the tank can break loose and cause fuel starvation going around ...

Some parts stores can test the ICM and coils, I'm not aware of a DIY test procedure for the module.

Re: Help!!! 1999 Bonneville SE 3800 issues
Head gaskets rarely go on these, but the lower intake gaskets will. The upper plenum will also crack around the EGR passage due to heat. Check your oil and see if there's any coolant mixed in with it, if there is, don't start it and drain the oil right away or you risk damaging the rod bearings ...

Unless the programmer is defective internally (not likely), that should fix your problem.

Re: 1998 Oldsmobile LSS P0171

The line is part of the supply to the vacuum tank under the fender. The damaged section is right after the check valve, near where the line emerges from the wiring ...

Fuel filter was replaced in July by the previous owner at the same time he replaced the tank.
