Re: Wierd Brake Problem...

Is it under the washer fluid tank? I kinda want to check the connections (online says it can be corroded).

Re: I am so stumped! Please give advice !

It's funny how missing a little piece of rubber causes all that hysteria to look for something major.

The same thing happened to me awhile back and I changed the alternator, belt, and tensioner. The noise stopped and I left the mechanic only to have to noise come back 15 minutes later when the car ...

Re: Wierd Brake Problem...

Any luck on this ABS issue?

I've had this issue since i bought the car 4 years ago. I had to replaced the left/ front hub a year after i bought it; problem still was present.

I pulled the fuse about 2 years ago and driven like this ever since, but i've been wanting to fix it ever since i spun out ...

Re: ***** 1995 Pontiac Bonneville 3800 II help needed *****

I guess $225 doesn't sound too bad, but I just had my buddy from napa price a center inlet and dual offset outlet muffler for 67 bucks!

I work at an airport maintenance shop, so I plan on installing it myself with some help. I'm going to set it up with an adapter and clamps for inlet and get a ...

Re: ***** 1995 Pontiac Bonneville 3800 II help needed *****

Hello again, I cant believe its been a year since the last post here. I was searching for advice on a new muffler and stumbled over this old thread.

The last thing mentioned here was about my muffler having a hole (possible drain). Well its definitely rusted through because it rattle fairly loud at ...

Re: Hard quick shift's from 1st to 4th

Change your fluid. It's ~15-16 years old and very degraded. Then report back to us how it shifts.

BTW, a $7 hand pump will make changing the ATF much less messy.

That pump worked out great! (almost 9 bucks over here after taxes) Good thing I bought it too because I was 2 quarts overfilled ...

Re: Hard quick shift's from 1st to 4th

Okay, got pump at Walmart ($8.50)

Checked fluid and seemed to be overfilled

Pumped out about 3.5 quarts - then, put in one quart of Valvoline MaxLife ATF. Started her up and let her run for 5 minutes (Still was already hot when pumping).

Checked level and was dead on with dip stick leveling ...

Re: Hard quick shift's from 1st to 4th

First off, burnt fluid is not going to help anything, you may wish to put changing that pretty far up on the todo list. Also, the new modulator you got, is it an adjustable unit? If it is, you will notice an adjustment screw, usually inside the tube where the vacuum line goes. You can back that off ...

I don't think it's the mounts. It doesn't really bang super hard. Nothing like metal on metal; and they still look intact.

Hard quick shift's from 1st to 4th

Car: 1995 Pontiac Bonneville SE

Okay, sorry if this has come up before... I've always a somewhat of quick thud of a sound/feeling when my bonne shifts to 2nd. Now after two years, it seems to do that in all gear changes up and down. A mechanic off the street told me to get a new trans modulator ...

Bonneville... lawn mower special

Was driving home a couple days ago on i94 in Chicago and spotted this Bonneville.

Looks like they had a makeshift mount laying inside the trunk sticking out. That's two mowers hanging out. Crazy!

Anyways, my exit was coming up and only managed to get these two photos. Tell me what you think about ...

Re: ***** 1995 Pontiac Bonneville 3800 II help needed *****

If your muffler is rusted through, it's probably shot on the inside too. Might want to start saving up for a new one.

Oh jeez, don't want to think about that right now. Just got my baby running normal again. If i have to though, I would probably go with a dual outlet. But lets save that for later ...

Re: ***** 1995 Pontiac Bonneville 3800 II help needed *****

Okay. I can finally post that this topic is SOLVED!

Lets recap:

-Replaced LIM gasket.
-Replaced UIM and UIM gasket.

-Once put together; rough idle, hissing sound, Check Engine Light.
-Triple checked UIM and Throttle Body.

PROBLEM >>>> EGR flex pipe from LIM cracked.

FIX >>>> Cemented EGR ...

Yeah, I think their just rust holes. Not very big and not rusted through fully, so I will cement them tomorrow.

Well, I went ahead and cemented the pipe (Not paying 25 bucks for a new one). I'm letting it dry over night. I also cemented some holes on the cat.

One thing I noticed is that the muffler has two holes directly in the middle of it. Are they suppose to be there? Do they drain moisture or something ...

Re: ***** 1995 Pontiac Bonneville 3800 II help needed *****

Hello again. I had a chance yesterday to look over the UIM again and try to find might be causing the rough idle on my bonne. Turns out after about 30 minutes of close investigation that the EGR corrugated pipe is cracked. The instructions warned about this and I checked, but it wasn't visible from ...

Re: ***** 1995 Pontiac Bonneville 3800 II help needed *****

As others have pointed out, your symptoms are those of a vacuum leak. One of the bolts for the UIM on the right of the throttle body is actually a stud, IIRC, that requires a larger socket than all the other bolts. I think maybe the bracket for the EGR is attached to it. You will need to remove ...

Re: ***** 1995 Pontiac Bonneville 3800 II help needed *****

So... Would it be ok taking out the UIM again to line it up with the LIM?

Doesn't seem like it lined up right. I tightened it enough (don't want to tighten any more).

Seems vacuum leak doesn't want to go away. I was also thinking of spreading rtv where the leak is and letting it dry.

Whats your ...
