Re: I saw a really clean '99...almost brought a tear to my e
I don't think you are crazy... if I had the time, and didn't need to have a car for a few weeks, and the price was right... I would probably sell off my Bonneville right now and either buy an older one, or get a couple new axles and replace the blown engine in my Explorer with a 4 cylinder cummins ...

Re: I saw a really clean '99...almost brought a tear to my e
Yeah... I really wish I had taken the time to find an older Bonneville.... Just my family is always whining at me about how I should buy newer cars because I would have less repairs and blah blah blah, spend less money fixing them, they would be better for the kids and on and on.

Re: Weight Reduction
iirc the hood is aluminum. and the bottom of the 00+ Bonnes is pretty darn flat as is. Belly pan would just add weight.
Yes, the hood is aluminum, so probably not much weight can come off it, but there is still the trunk, not that any of it would make a lot of difference to a 2 ton car. The ...

Re: Weight Reduction
What do you suppose the weight difference is between leather and cloth seats? How about the weight on the trunk and hood? The doors are gonna be a heavy part, but, it is pretty hard to do full doors out of fiberglass or CF, and they suck to have on road cars.

Re: headers; are they worth it!
1 3/4" headers are really not that big for V8's, big block chevy headers are availible in 2 1/4" but 2" is more common. I had a mildly built 289 back in the day and 1 3/4" were all we ran in a NA engine, no one used 1 1/2" unless it was a 4 cylinder engine. I will see if it kills my low end since I ...

Re: headers; are they worth it!
Keeping your low end is all about keeping exhaust gasses flowing very quickly... that is why very large tube diameters hurt low end, because you lose the scavenging effect in turbulence created in your flow as the gasses slow down and expand.

Re: Engine Knock? Easier to replace or rebuild engine? trann
If you rebuild, there is some machining that should be done, also you should always have your head checked for cracks. You also never know what kind of internal damage you have done to the engine, such as gouging the crankshaft... With machining costs (and possibly the cost of replacing internal ...

Re: Rotating Tires
I always rotate directional tires straight back, asymmetrical tires, I put the front set straight back and cross the rear when I bring them forward. Sold thousands of tires a year, and never had problems when switching sides on tires... Tire manufacturers put a lot of thought in those things, you ...

Re: Convertible Grand Prix GT
Idk, the color isn't bad. I wouldn't paint a car that color, but I wouldn't hate it either... It's just those wheels and the gratuitous speakers that bother me. Would be awesome if he had also made a top for the car, removable hardtop even.

Isn't your insurance going to pay for it? Walgreens has surveillance on their parking lot, you should have just called the cops, reported it as a hit and run, then let them find her for her insurance to pay up.

Re: Just Bought Another 2000 Bonneville, Gear Swap question.
I doubt you will see a lot of improvement, that isn't much of a change, and the power of the NA engine is pretty well balanced for the gearing we have. One of the reasons we get the fuel economy we do is because the 3800 has the power to push these big cars around.

Re: Cluster Color
The gauge face itself is glued to the cluster. The cluster comes apart by removing the back and the front cover, then removing the needles (VERY CAREFULLY) and then you can pull the board out. From there you would have to separate the face from the cluster. You would need to be INSANELY careful ...

Re: LED gauge cluster Version 1 complete
I am getting full brightness out of the LEDs, I tested it with a power supply at 3.5 volts with no resistor, then 13.6 volts with the resistor. I was just using the brightest stuff I had laying around, and they aren't really as bright as what I should have been using. On my power supply next to the ...

LED gauge cluster Version 1 complete
First version of my LED dash conversion completed. I say first, because I don't really feel like I am getting satisfactory results from this configuration. The LEDs are slightly dimmer than the incandescent bulbs, so the display is a bit dimmer, with some spots slightly dimmer than others. Therefore ...

Aha, thanks a lot. The board for the instrument cluster called them J1 and J2, so I had been going by that. But yeah, thanks, that is everything I needed to finish populating that board with LEDs.

Pinout - instrument cluster 2002 bonneville please
Just what the title says, if anyone has access to a pinout, specifically for the J2 plug, the one with the illumination on it, I would really appreciate if they could post it. Honestly, the only thing I need to know on that harness is if A2 or B8 is the ground plug. I've been scouring the internet ...
