Re: 2003 BMW M5

I had a buddy learn that lesson for me. It dented up his roof pretty good. Because of him, I think about that A LOT.

Re: 2003 BMW M5

I kept an eye out for a deal on bike racks this winter and ended up picking up some OEM racks. I got a chance to test them out Sunday for a 150+ miles and they worked great. It sure beats taking the bikes apart and play trunk tetris.

Re: Front end issues

Are you sure you're torquing the axle nut down to the correct spec?

Are you running aftermarket wheels that aren't hub centric?

Re: Safe switch power line to splice into for wideband?

I would find a fuse that's +12v hot when keyed on and use a 'add-a-circuit' for power.

Re: So I got a bike.. (Ducati S2R, 1000cc swap, clip-ons, etc.)

The temps are swinging hard. It was 48 when I left in the morning and 80 on the way home.

I did hear the conditions are so-so out west. Friends of mine went to Park City two weeks ago and they described conditions I just saw on Friday last week in the Poconos.. after it hit 50 and raining a couple ...

Re: So I got a bike.. (Ducati S2R, 1000cc swap, clip-ons, etc.)

I don't ride this much but I make it a point to be sure it's operational. I was out a few times last year and I re-did the 150 mile trip in my last post around the same time of the year.

It hit 80 today and I decided to wake up early so I had enough time to commute to/from work and switch to a car ...

Ah, that all makes sense on the lack of corrosion. Definitely a lottery win.

Glad your daughter is relatively ok and that sucks that the burban is cooked..

That Sierra is suuuuper mint. The frame/underside is unbelievably clean for 22 years old.. Has it always been in the rust belt??

Re: 2003 BMW M5

Shortly after the last post I started prepping the car to take the wife and kids to the Outer Banks in early October. Unfortunately, the driveshaft developed an intermittent ticking noise.. The center shaft support bearing was new, guibo (driveshaft coupling) was low mile, and CV tight. I came ...

Re: 2005 Cobalt LS

I was pretty close to getting those too. I can't remember exactly why I didn't but the cables did a great job, even in the packed down ice. It stayed below freezing for basically three weeks after it snowed. All the street parking needed something to crush and dig into the ice ridge separating it ...

Re: 2005 Cobalt LS

This thing has been doing absolutely awesome as a winter beater. I picked up some tire cables in case we got a decent storm this year and I'm glad I did. We got 9-10" last weekend and most of my neighborhood didn't get plowed. I've been installing the cables to get into and out of my neighborhood ...

Re: cracking plastic cover behind the engine

The plastic cover is just that, It covers an actual metal box. I opted to just completely remove all of the plastic and have the box ceramic coated. You could do the same and just rattle can it. The motor will still attach to the metal box without issue. I don't have a good rec for the motor. Just ...

At first look, it seems like the double tube is upside down but it's hard to tell without being there.

I found this pic that might help:

Re: Vacuum lines L36

For the dual line, one goes to the charcoal canister and one goes to the vacuum modulator on the front of the transmission.

Here's a pic from over 20 years ago of a cold air intake I made for my 95, also L36/4t60-e equipped. You can see the line going down to the transmission vacuum modulator then ...

Re: Fuel pump troubleshooting

Try bypassing the fuel pump relay at the fuse/relay center under the RH dash. The wiring diagram is here: https://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/f ... 48336.html

Re: Vacuum lines L36

If it's your 98, there shouldn't be a vac line that goes to the trans. 97 was the last year for the vacuum modulated 4t60-e, your 98 should have a 4t65-e with electronic line pressure modulation.

Nice! That would have saved my IT tank and stopped my Duc's tank from swelling.
