Hi all,
I posted a while back but it's coming down to crunch time since the cost of insurance, registration, and inspection are exceeding the value of a car I don't drive anymore. I don't plan to renew the registration this year and while the car has been on Craigslist for several months, it hasn't ...

How to remove the front badge?
Just curious if anyone here has removed the emblem from the front of an 01 series Bonneville and how to go about doing so?

Junk? Sell? Strip for parts? Fix?
I have had my 01 SSEi since 2003. I was 16 years old. I still have my 01 SSEi. I am now 34 years old. I can understand now how people can get so attached to material things. I've had this car for over half my life. So many of my memories include this car. I went through high school, college, and ...

Re: May I suggest a COTM for June?
Unfortunately, I'd say that opportunity is already gone. Look at the post history, we can go months without even having a new Your Ride thread.
We can say sure, you won June 2022 COTM, but without any competition where is the satisfaction in that? My suggestion is to post some good pics in any of ...

May I suggest a COTM for June?
I realize the traffic to the forum has severely dwindled in recent years. My request is almost purely selfish, though I can't even say with certainty it would play out as I intend. I've been a member here for a very long time and have had my 2001 SSEi nominated for COTM 3 or 4 times but have never ...

Is it time to part ways?
Some of you may remember me as being an immature teen many years ago here on this forums. Others may remember me as someone who slowly began growing up and enjoying posting the occasional pic. I attended a meetup once at the New England Speedway with a few fellow club members and my car was featured ...

Non-puck motor mounts?
I was looking at doing the puck mount (actually bought the pucks a few years ago and never got around to it) but was curious if http://intense-racing.com/PROD/3800-PRO-UMMP-xxx.html would fit our cars? Obviously it's not listed on their site, but I figured I'd ask here to see if anyone has tried ...

What size tires/rims?
Hey guys,
I'm still kickin it in the 2001 SSEi (recently had the tranny rebuilt) and I'm in the need of new tires. I think back in 2008 I ran the Bonnie on 18" Dub Dirty Dog rims 255/55/45 or something similar. I forget which combination had the most minimal speedometer adjustment but I do recall ...

Yeah. I'm not savvy enough to do the labor either, so wouldn't it be just about the same price?MattStrike wrote:The other option is to get a used trans, it's cheaper but you risk the reliability.

Re: Transmission dead? Cost of replacement?
I would stop going to that place... $1400 for a brake job? Yikes.
It sounds like your transmission is toast though, and you probably won't find a place to rebuild it for any less than $1500, all said and done. If the rest of the car is solid, it might be worth it. But if the car is rough overall ...

Transmission dead? Cost of replacement?
Hey guys,
My Bonnie has been part of the club for many years now. It's a 2001 SSEi.
I was on the highway a few weeks ago at a high speed (60+) and I noticed when I gave it some gas that I felt some stuttering. I thought nothing of it, since the car kept moving. It repeated this same behavior for a ...

Car is falling apart, or neglect is catching up to me
Not sure which to blame, but recently had to drop $1500 for wheel bearing, tie rod ends, alternator, and a whole crapload of stuff I really shouldn't have done.
Then 2 days later, the car dies in a parking garage. I'm told it's the battery, which is only 2 years old, but makes sense since the ...

Repair shop said powdercoating calipers caused ruined rotors
Hey all,
Not sure if this makes any sense at all (it certainly may), but over a year and a half ago I purchased GXP calipers for my 2001 SSEi (along with the appropriately sized rotors and pads from EBC). I then had my front and rear calipers professionally disassembled, powder coated, and ...

Moar car issues - anyone help?
Howdy again!
It's been about 6 months since I purchased brand new GXP calipers (from a shop) for my SSEi. For those who recall, I had them disassembled and powder coated red at a reputable facility. At the same time I also purchased EBC Redstuff brake pads and EBC drilled and slotted rotors.

Cheap but good repaint?
My car is getting herpes all over it and I'm not sure what to do about it anymore. I don't care about detailing it like I used to since there's no point as there are multiple disgusting brown rust spots in multiple areas. This includes both rear quarterpanels, the front of the hood, etc.

Thank you! The new shop said it looks like the alternator again. They said it was only putting out 8v I believe. They said it would be Wednesday before they got a Napa Gold alternator. Is this a good brand?

Re: Is my Bonneville ready to go?
Well now I'm at a loss again. Just for some background info, my battery was replaced 3 months ago.
I got my car back Tuesday from the shop. $667 later the alternator was replaced and the thermostat housing was as well. The smell is gone. I believe it was the coolant leaking from the thermostat.

Re: Is my Bonneville ready to go?
It's not the thermostat, but the housing. I was told it costs like $30 but then there's the fluids and the labor to replace the thing. He told me an OEM alternator is $330 and that the supercharged model version is ~$70 more. He seems genuinely honest and may just now know better? Idk...but right ...
