Re: Weak electrical system?
yes it's a direct bolt on replacement. i cannot remember if all SSEi's had it, or not. hopefully someone will chime in with that info, or at least the RPO code to check on the parts car to verify.

Re: Weak electrical system?
my SSE was the same way, overall its kindanormal. These cars seem to have a underpowered, and chinsy electric system. I Changed to a 140amp alt from a 92+ SSEi and a larger battery, seemed to help quite a bit. i also replaced my battery cables as the ends werent corroded, but once i peeled back the ...

Re: motor mount
the only reason you should have to go with the more expensive one is if you have the RPO code on your spare tire cover that says GX3. which I'm going to say you don't, because I'm 99% sure it wasn't available in 89. only 90/91

Re: motor mount
Don, big diff on the special mount for the GX3... my shop tried using a regular one for $75, and my trans tore it up in less than 5k miles. replaced it with the special mount, and was good for the next 20k i had the car. (im sure its still going)

Re: Compass & Drivers Information Center LED Light Problem
the issue is in the cluster itself, very common on the 88-91 gen. the short is in the plastic ribbon/board that runs accross the back of the cluster

Re: UPDATE! MISFIRES, SURGING, AND HESSITATIONS!
this is still a ongoing problem. still no spark on cyl 3 or 6. i've done my best to check the wiring from the CPS to the ICM and everything seems okay. i've even wiggled the wiring while the car was running with no change. every once and awhile i will get a slight spark real quick on 6, then it ...

Re: UPDATE! MISFIRES, SURGING, AND HESSITATIONS!
had the crank sensor replaced and aligned using the original GM tool. car ran super good for two days. now running worse than before.
car is very hard to start, with extended cranking time, sometimes no start at all.
found out the car is running on only 4 cylinders there is no spark to the top ...

Re: Help! MISFIRES, SURGING, AND HESSITATIONS!
i replaced the plugs and wires prior to the harmonic balancer. i replaced the ICM after.
its really hard to say how the car was running prior to the harmonic balancer replacement. the balancer was so bad the car would barely stay running. (it was extremely loud) also the car sat for 9 months after ...

i put new vacuum lines on last year, and i checked them all over again. all are fine.
the coils and ICM are all new. i swapped it out with another one(older magnavox style) and still ran the same way

also, it is idling around 1000 to 1200 in park, idles at 1000 in drive. (according to the tach) it was idling much lower prior to the HB replacement.
