Needs must I to update this one.
Performance upgrades are still pending, engine and trans are just sitting on the shelf still.
In the meantime, I lost all the pictures, working on video updates instead.
this spring I managed to get this car back up to daily driver status the right way. New fuel ...

Re: High beam actuator?
If you've ever had to replace the multi-function switch for the wiper stalk, that piece is about 1 screw deeper in the column.

Re: 92 Low Beams Went Out
From my '92 CSM

Since the high beams do come on, I'd start at the connector for the adaptive lamp monitor and work the problem from there. Looks like working high beams rules out the headlamp switch in this case.

Re: Engine Air Filter Screws
My recollection is that they are machine screws, M6.0 thread. Approximately 30mm long.
They thread into a brass insert on the bottom half of the air filter housing. Soak them with penetrating oil for a week, re-apply daily, if you can. It will be difficult to get them with the phillips head, if ...

Re: So, I guess I did a thing again.
The last few weeks, it's been kinda trippy to see this thing in my driveway. I've already accidentally walked right up to it on my way in to work.
There's a bit on here about the trofeo already. Lots more to come on that in '24 too. As well, it's about time i did something about this winter beater ...

Re: So, I guess I did a thing again.
Inside is relatively clean and complete. It's a down south car, so paint is starting to peel on the roof, and some minor issues with the dash, but nothing I didn't save parts from my first car that I can't fix. Of course, same issue I had with my old one, the door weatherstripping is decayed pretty ...

So, I guess I did a thing again.
I didn't even know I was doing this thing, but it happened, and I didn't even know it was happening until this last weekend when it happened.
The only clue I can give you is that there are two people that know, and they can't spill the beans. Also, it's totally re-balancing my spring project plans.

A lot of time, sure. But too much nostalgia growing up in that vehicle to let it rot away. It didn't need that much work compared to some of my other projects

Re: 1992 Olds Toronado Trofeo
After a few years of limiting the fleet (had to cut back on the car insurance bill), I was finally able to get this car back on the road again.
Of course, not without issues. The engine fired right up, and the trans is working good. But sitting on the sideline seems to have cause a bunch of little ...

Not mine, but this is what I've been working on since the end of last year (as time permits).
It's been sitting for quite a while, which as you all know does wonders for sheet metal. It got parked probably around 2015, don't exactly recall, and eventually it got some new front end fenders ...

Re: 1987 Park Avenue, no start / kickback / backfire...
My first thought on this, I believe the '87 still has the spark control module on the firewall. My recollection is that it's the interface between the PCM and ICM for the PCM to take control over spark timing, and the point at which is switches over is at 600rpm, I can look that up but it was ...

It's been a while, I know, but I guess that's just what you get when you put a 3800 in something.
Van has been seeing daily driving duty since I last posted, things are for the most part working out as expected!
I'm actually (finally) getting some things done on this that were never finished ...

Time to start shaking off the dust now that the weather is turning back into tolerable.

Finished up a bunch of little details today, then proceeded to test drive it around the yard (bumps and hills at full steering lock) just to make sure things are working as expected before test driving on the road.

Re: sell or junk?
I would 100% agree, that selling is the better option right now.
Private sale, though, you might need to fix the brake line to get $2k for it. Without seeing it, no effort put into fixing it, I'd expect that a private sale would get about 2x what the junkyard would offer. I'm basing that on what I ...
