I really like the Buick LeSabre.. I've never seen one fixed up before..
Where was this meet at? I should have brought my 89 LOL
How exactly is that intercooler working on a roots style intake manifold supercharger??
It's basically a finned liquid filled plate (like a radiator) between the s/c ...

If you can Marty, change my vote to September. I can't make August period anymore.
Count another GTP I'm sure. Buddy of mine just picked up a '99 with a few mods.

Re: 1996 ssei tuning
This is why the '96s aren't supported in the tuning world too much. It was the ONLY year the S2 L67 was mated to the 4T60.
"It isn't quite that simple."
Actually it is. Just buy a cheaper programmer that has the 4t60 mapped in the file.

*dang* Marty. We just picked that up less than a month ago and it looks a million times better.

Will be checking today. Really don't have the funds to dig into the valvetrain if the stem seals are the culprit.Mechanical Mike wrote:I'd check the PCV valve. It's probably a long shot but easy to check.

I'd be willing to do all that if I didn't have an actual designated track car already. This is supposed to be my DD, that was originally supposed to stay stock.....

That's what I was thinking. But at ~180,000 miles? That's unusual for the numerous 3.8's I've owned.

Strange oil burning problem
Here's the deal, I have a '96 SSEi and it recently started burning a noticeable amount of oil. (Smoke out of the exhaust.)
The thing is, it only does it at idle at operating temp. Doesn't burn a drop on warm-up, or when driving, (even hard) only when it sits for at least a 5min period idling. Doesn ...

Re: Spring MN meet?
Um, for 99.9% of the meets I've been to consisted of a 100+ mile 'Cruise' to and another 100+ mile 'cruise' home.
Personally would rather meet, eat, have a brew and maybe tinker abit.
That's not really that far to some though.
Other car clubs that 100+ will be the cruise itself easily. When I ...

Re: Spring MN meet?
If someone wants to have one, I'm game once it warms up, but I just know it's a lot of driving, etc to have a lot of meets. Rather have 3 bigger meets a year than 6 little ones.
:stupid:
We should just have a spring, summer, and fall meet. Possibly a cruise is in order as well for one of the ...

Re: After a year and a half...I finally cleaned my engine bay!
That's the nicest LeSabre I've seen. To bad there is no way to make the intake a straighter shot. It looks pretty restrictive with all those bends
The tubing in the bumper I'm assuming is just ducting to channel air to the actual filter/intake. No more bends than what you're running.
Correct me ...

Ed's place was great, even for the drive.
I'm game for pretty much anything. The St. Cloud meet was pretty successful and wouldn't mind doing that again.

Re: "Stuffing" a NorthStar
If that's the case, swap STS heads and you now have 300hp/300tq with a much more solid transmission. Especially noting the STS will dust off a low 15/high 14 weighing over 4,100lbs.
Nevermind the heavy 18" wheels and larger brakes that come stock on the GXP.
There are positives if the swap were ...

Well said, his choices have no bearing at all. How is this even hypocritical at all? The Op asked if it was worth it, opinions were given...and some with fact behind it. The Northstar can be modded? Sure...you can mod anything for the right price. You wanna pay far more than you have to for the ...
