OUCH! It's great your daughter came out of it pretty well. 65MPH is awfully quick through a controlled intersection and that assumes no attempt to brake.
The new truck looks great. It seems to be very shy on rust, always a positive. Given the age, that's pretty low mileage. Should last a very long ...

Re: I pulled my Bonneville out of storage.
I'll admit that I've had thoughts on occasion about selling two of my cars. I'm paying the better part of $4K/year in storage for both of them. I just keep coming to the same conclusion and can't let them go. Now that things are getting a little better here, and I'm actually enthusiastic about ...

Re: I pulled my Bonneville out of storage.
My STS has been parked about the same amount of time, only it won't make it out of storage this year. COVID hit which caused a whole lot of chaos. Life managed to throw a few other problems my way, and I'm just rebounding from those. Things are on the upswing for now so I'm taking some time to enjoy ...

I pulled my Bonneville out of storage.
On July 26th of this year, I pulled my GXP out of storage for the first time in 3 years. Getting behind the wheel again reminded me of why I love this car! Each one of my vehicles provides me a different experience. However, my Bonneville has always been something pretty special to me. It was great ...

Re: On Star ??
I'm fairly skeptical of some reports regarding data being sold to insurance companies. I suppose my questions would revolve around what type of information this allegedly is?

Re: The winter beater saga...
Thanks :)
This does have auto start/stop, but at least it can be disabled. I just wish that it didn't reset with each ignition cycle. We have a Ford Escape at work that is now several years old with this same function. It seems to have held up pretty well so far. Time will tell I guess. GM claims ...

The winter beater saga...
It was one year ago this month that I purchased a new winter beater to replace my 2008 DTS. While it was reliable, the DTS found it hard to pass a gas station without stopping in. Rust was becoming more of an issue (not that it's a big deal in a winter car), but it was time to move on.
So, I ...

Re: OEM Radio
Is the radio/CD you want to replace OEM, or aftermarket? Will you post the part number of the replacement radio you acquired. Also, do you have a TheftLock LED illuminated on the front of the replacement radio?

Re: New member with a 2005 GXP
I purchased my 2004 GXP in 2006 and it still performs virtually like a new car. There are some problems with head gaskets in these years, albeit not nearly as many as the previous Northstar. Perhaps I'm a sucker for punishment, but all three of my cars have a Northstar of one flavour or another. To ...

Re: I'm an idiot and cut part of the HVAC ribbon
My experience in soldering flexible printed circuits is that it is generally quite difficult unless you are very experienced. I would not take this on as a first or second time job. If it's not 100%, you're just going to continue having problems down the road. It has to be carefully prepped to ...

Re: 2003 Bonneville SSEi Door Chime super quiet
Haven't been here for a while and just saw your post. I was going to suggest checking the speaker and/or associated wiring. The chime sounds in these cars are produced by the radio.

Re: 2000 parasitic draw, tough one
You can't accurately track down parasitic draw in these cars until all the modules on the data bus enter sleep mode. There is a process to follow and you need to use a parasitic draw test switch such as the one from Amazon (below) so you can connect a meter inline with the negative battery cable ...

Re: Parasytic Draw from Radio circuit
I looked over the schematics and the AUDIO fuse only supplies power to the radio and OnStar (if equipped). Does you car have OnStar, and if so, do you subscribe? As I mentioned, the amp is fused separately, so it isn't overly suspect here. If your car has OnStar, I would start by disconnecting it ...

Re: Parasytic Draw from Radio circuit
How much current are you measuring with everything disconnected?
The amp is a very unlikely the suspect. It is fused separately from the radio and the only connections that really exist between it and the radio are for the audio signals. There is another connection between the two components, but ...

Re: Parasytic Draw from Radio circuit
There is not a lot on that circuit. Do you have a warning chime and/or steering wheel control module that was added in addition to the radio? Are there ANY other aftermarket electronics that someone may have added and simply tapped into that circuit?
