Re: The end of the 3800 for GM

I do know that the Series II 3800 was the most popular variant, and was produced the most out of any 3800. As for other engines with similar production numbers, the ones that I can think of....maybe the original VW Beetle engine? Maybe the old Ford 5.0? I honestly don't know.

The 3800 in its more ...

Re: Valve cover looks weird

Looks like a JB Weld job that's been there a while. Unless the plastic valve cover breaks down like that, which is odd.

She's a looker, for sure!!

Leave it to some of those fake protestors to cause that damage; but you did a great job getting her back to the way she was.

Re: I hope I don't get chastised for this 2007 Lucerne CXL

Out of curiosity, does this CXL have the Northstar? Their 4T80-E transmissions tend to blow up around 80k miles, from what I've seen.

Re: GXP grille options - Late model GTO same/similar size?

The two grilles look close, but I don't think they're identical.

Personally, I think you should just chrome plate the outside edge of the grille - it'll stand out more without being gawdy, as it would be if you chrome plated the entire grilles. But, if you get the whole thing chrome plated, I think ...

Re: Front Strut Options

Andrew, aka harofreak00, has parted out numerous Bonnevilles, to help keep other Bonnie's going. I personally bought a front strut/spring assembly from him after my spring somehow broke many years ago. It was a good part, and I'm sure he has plenty more for sale.

Re: oil mixed in my coolent

Replace both the upper and lower intake manifold gaskets, as stated above. That should prevent this from happening again; thankfully you caught it before any damage was done to the engine.

Re: No crank, No start (not so intermittent anymore)

It sounds like you should get that ignition replaced, especially since you said the car started after jiggling the key in the ignition (before you changed the battery.)

Hopefully someone with more knowledge on the matter chimes in, as I never had an issue starting my Bonnie when I had her.

Ahh, bummer. It's a shame to see, but as we all know, rust kills these cars.

Just keep going, I want to see how many miles you can put on her before the end.

Re: Rear control arm bushings and shocks...

You replied to a post from 2016. Hopefully harofreak00 or someone else with the knowledge you seek notices this active post, and answers.

Alternatively, you could post in the general chat section. That could get you a faster response.

Re: Maintenance Intervals 97 Bonneville

I'm not sure if there are any manuals with service intervals on this forum, but I'm sure someone has them.

However, when I had my Bonneville, I changed the engine oil every 5,000 miles (usually ended up being once a year, with how many short distance drives I took.) If your car still has the ...

Re: Improper Fuel Gauge on 97 Bonneville SE

With my limited knowledge on the subject, I believe a stepper motor is going haywire on ya. Definitely look into it a bit further, and hopefully some others with much more knowledge on the 9th gen chime in.

If a stepper motor is the issue, you'll have to have it professionally rebuilt. At least ...

Re: Junk? Sell? Strip for parts? Fix?

Sell it to Andrew, aka harofreak00. That way he can get various parts off of the car and help other Bonneville owners keep their cars on the road.
