Re: 2000-2005 Rear Lateral Arm Bolt Replacement

Received the Moog replacements today. Only things I noticed is that the bolt is slightly longer than the factory and the treads are placed differently. Doubt thats going to matter by the time you get it through the lateral arm. The other is that the washer is slightly smaller than the factory. They ...

2000-2005 Rear Lateral Arm Bolt Replacement

Recently gweg_b and I have been working on his 2003 Buick LeSabre, doing a suspension overhaul on it. One of the items that came up was how crusty the rear lateral arm cam bolts would be. When we replaced the lateral arms on his GXP back in 2019, I broke one of the cam bolts trying to get it out ...

Re: 2020 Michigan Meat Meets Meet Meet - Planning

Matt - Thanks for committing me before I had a chance to! Like Im gonna miss this! (unless, of course, I have another brush with organ failure....)

Obviously, Im in. Air fryer could be interesting. Which one did you get? I've been meaning to get one, but it hasnt really hit my priority list yet ...

Re: 99 Montana 3800 swap project

A sheet metal break is on my list of "things to build because Im too cheap to spend the money". Right now, we dont really have the room for it. Ill be curious to see your setup.

I dont envy you ripping apart the interior on that van. That stank was horrible.

Re: 97 LeSabre Project

Thanks.

The car was savable, even when the shop said to trash it. It took some doing. Some determination and a whole lot of stupidity. But, it was worth saving and a good car to learn on. And there was lots of learnin' done on this car.

First, the dick comment.

Thats a pretty fancy lawn mower you have there. I've seen it cut some grass and I have to say, Im impressed.

Now that thats done.

Nice to see you've had it on the track and that its doing well. Funny fact, I have an old coworker who has a similar looking s2000 and didnt ...

Re: 97 LeSabre Project

On the brake lines - I think initially my patience had just been tested to the point where I needed to walk away. My first attempt at bending a line was not great. Upon further review, I learned that when you use the bending pliers, you're supposed to bend the line to the pliers, not try to bend the ...

Re: 97 LeSabre Project

You can see from the last batch of pictures, there was quite a bit of metal work done. At the June 2018 meet, there was some concern that our welder had a problem. However, once we tested at Matt's, we found that it was the homemade extension cord that was really the issue. I spent a fair amount of ...

Re: 97 LeSabre Project

@MattStrike - by the by, if you happen to have a few minutes and dont mind making some A pillar clips, we'd be most grateful. I dont recall how many were broken during the teardown. I think we mentioned it at the meet in June.

Re: 97 LeSabre Project

I should clarify...when I said pristine, I meant the rocker panel was pristine. The 95 has a lot of rot in the rocker panel. When I started cutting into the 97 on that side, the metal was clean and solid. The drivers side was so brittle, cutting it up only took so much time due to my inexperience. I ...

Re: 97 LeSabre Project

The 97 was in better shape. The passenger side of the 95 is in pretty bad shape. We didnt have to do much on the passenger side of the 97. You'll see in pictures, I started cutting into the passenger side of the 97 and it was pristine. The floor pan on that side had some issues, but not nearly as ...

Re: The LeSabre & Bonneville Project

The things we've learned since these posts. Working on the 97 LeSabre certainly brought a lot of things to light, as well as developed skills that will be useful when we get back to this car.

The SSEI is next on the project list. Quite an extensive list of things to do on that. Pulled it into the ...

Re: 97 LeSabre Project

This definitely took longer and was way more involved than either of us expected, even though we both knew it was going to be an extensive repair. This was a good project to develop body work skills on and there are lots of obvious imperfections in some of the repairs where decisions were made and ...

Re: 2019 MI get 'er done meet meat!

One batch of brine is ready. I'll do the second this evening. We'll put the turkeys in the brine when we get to town on Friday evening, so they can absorb the flavor goodness overnight.

Re: 2019 MI get 'er done meet meat!

We can do two turkeys. We'll want to plan out timing a little bit, but shouldnt be a big problem. I'll plan on getting one and all the stuff to brine.

Re: 2019 MI get 'er done meet meat!

Right now I have meat for a couple of meals, covering probably Friday evening and Saturday. If we still want to fry a turkey, Im ok with that, but unless I bring it, it'll need to be thawed and ready for brine by the time I get there. Based on last year, two turkeys would be better for that many ...

Re: 2019 MI get 'er done meet meat!

Just wanted to get a better idea of how much meat to bring. I know there was talk about frying a turkey, which Im game for. I've also got a couple of things in mind to bring. No big surprises this year though. Havent had the time to really plan anything out or the money to make it happen.
