I will check out removing the dash when it warms up or when I am at a friends with a heated garage. Tackling this in sub-zero temps doesn't sound like a found project.

Re: What's the deal the shoddy stock radios?
Does this car have the 5 Band Eq stereo with steering wheel controls?
Yes
Once in a while when the radio is fading, I can bounce my fist off the dash to get a better signal. I am guessing the science behind this is a loose connection.
Anyone have a topic link for dismantling the dash so I can ...

Re: What's the deal the shoddy stock radios?
Thanks for the info.
Re: the center lead in the antenna coax
Are you referring to the actual wire in the coax and that it might be damaged (ie cracked)? If that is the case, I am guessing I am SOL unless I want to pull new coax.

What's the deal the shoddy stock radios?
I am sure this has been covered numerous times. I haven't been able to find the topic(s) though. If anyone has a link to topics that has covered the shoddy stock radios in the Bonnevilles, please post the link so we don't have to rehash it.

So y'all live in the south and don't need engine heaters.

Engine heaters
I might be heading back to Nodak to work this winter. I need an engine/block heater in my 93 Bonnevizzle if I go back there to work. What is the best way to go? Frost plug, lower radiator hose, engine heater? This will be a DIY.

Re: Lucas Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer
Yeah, those Chevies are fun to drive, but rather short on power when loaded (especially after driving diesel) I think this is the only C70 pic I have.

Re: Lucas Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer
We have a big gallon jug of Lucas Oil stabilizer we got at Runnings, and use it in our older vehicles. (65 C60 Grain Truck) I don't have any proof it does any good, but it hasn't hurt anything.

Re: Lucas Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer
I am suspicious of the mileage. I bought this car from an uncle 3-1/2 years ago. I have put on 65K since I bought it from him. My uncles have been known to have "issues" with odometer cables.

Re: Lucas Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer
I actually found the trans fix at Wally World. I had to go to NAPA to find Sea Foam Trans Tune. Fleet Farm has the Lucas oil stabilizer.
Which Fleet Farm are you at? I frequent the Fleet Farm in Brainerd/Baxter.

Lucas Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer
My Bonnevizzle certainly has seen better days. I am hoping to drive it for two more winters and then anything after that would be a bonus in my mind.
My main concern is the transmission has issues in the winter. Today, I am going to replace the tranny filte and add Lucas Transmission Fix. A local ...

Re: High idle - TPS?
The screws holding the IAC were removed without issue. Hmmmm... your 93 must be a different vintage than mine. My IAC is a screw in one like this

Re: High idle - TPS?
The TPS is replaced and now my Bonnevizzle is patiently waiting to hit the road.
I can never get a seal with the paper thermostat gaskets, so I use silicone gasket sealant. It says to wait 24 hours for the silicone to cure. I did start it for a second just to make sure she still runs. All is good ...

Re: High idle - TPS?
Like I said before, you can loosen the two screws with a pair of vicegrips and then the screws should turn out by hand. That worked for me.
The screws holding the TPS weren't even close to coming out. I ended up removing the throttle body to get at the screws holding the TPS. With the ...

Re: High idle - TPS?
I am passing on the IAC for now. I decided against spending $70 (or was it a $105) on a part that may not be having issues.
I may pass on removing the throttle body also if it is a PITA as I am not the most skilled mechanic.

Re: High idle - TPS?
Oh......I didn't intend a SeaFoam inoculation to solve my idle problems.
As long as I will have the throttle body off, I figured I would run some SeaFoam through the vacuum line beforehand. When I take the throttle body off to get at the TPS, I plan to clean it thoroughly (per the instructions in ...

Re: High idle - TPS?
Another quick item....
As I previously stated, no one will ever mistake me for an auto mechanic. I have read to use the brake booster vacuum line for a Sea Foam treatment. In the attached pic, have I properly identified the brake booster vacuum line?

I just came in from the garage. I unplugged the TPS and it idled close to the speed it should be idling. Is it a safe bet to forgo the IAC?

Re: High idle - TPS?
I don't have access to a scanning tool. The local parts store doesn't have one for use either. I somewhat live in the sticks. It is not very convenient to drive to hopefully find an auto parts store with a scanning tool available for use.
