Bought another SSEi (4th Bonneville, 2nd SSEi! :btruestory: )- got 150k miles, but beautiful shape, well taken care of, never driven in winter, no rust, etc etc.
Car develops harsh shift problem. So I drop trans, replace PCS ...

Re: Electrical Fire
This is the best picture I could get crouched down in my employers parking lot. As you can see, the harness is all melty. That's the area the fire was confined to. I don't know yet if the motor was damaged (see the black?), but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.
Hope that helps you out- this ...

Re: Electrical Fire
Ok, new info!
The fire definitely damaged the power and heated seats. Today, I had both lights (Hi and Low) lit on the heated seat button, with more smoke (yay...) coming from the dash. I pulled the dash and disconnected the switch. Then, the car went haywire. No starter, no off position, lights and ...

Electrical Fire
Howdy Folks-
Had a harrowing experience on Monday. Standing around talking, we noticed my cabin was full of smoke! AH! :eek2: Upon inspection, the wiring under the driver seat was on fire. Fortunately, I was able to douse the flames before the seat (or anything else) caught fire.
So, 1st question ...

Re: harofreak00 feedback (Bonnevilles Unlimited)
Not only is Andrew easy to deal with, give great pricing, and get it to you faster than you can find time to drive to the nearest scrapyard and tear it out yourself, he knows the parts he's dealing with. For instance, when you say your interior is 'black', he knows the actual color you meant is ...

2000+ Steering Wheel Controls
Hey folks- got a problem I can't find any information about. My steering wheel controls don't work. If my car was an older style, I'd start sticking toothpicks in, but I can't find a THING about 2000+ steering wheel controls. So...

Re: Coolant & Clunk questions
Neutral to drive is a heavy engage, hence my plan to change the mount. Good to know it should fix my other clunk too. I'm the IT guy for a shop that manufactures urethane parts, so I'll probably make up my own using some of that wonderful plasticky compound.

Coolant & Clunk questions
First non-introduction post- figures it's in regard to fixing my car...
I have two problems I haven't yet figured out. Just for reference, things I've done already since buying the car a month or so ago-
New ball joints
New outer tie rod ends
New wheel bearing
New strut bearing
New sway bar links ...

New Guy!
Howdy Folks-
Been a Bonne owner for several years. I'm on number 3 now, but this is the first SSEi, always naturally aspirated before now. Woohoo ;-)
Already found lots of info helping me get the girl into good shape again, looking forward to learning lots more!
See ya around,
Ryan
